Everywhere I look, whether I'm on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, or just walking along the street and looking into shop windows, I'm bombarded with opinions from every person on the planet on the upcoming Presidential Election. There are the hardcore Donald Trump supporters going on angry rants on Facebook, and then there are the people on Twitter using every opportunity available to make a joke out of him. There are the diehard Hillary Clinton supporters who are badgering the Republicans on why this nation needs a female president, and then there are the people using every picture of Hillary they see to make a Benghazi reference.

I'm a highly opinionated person; if you had met the middle school version of myself, she would have never shut up about her political views. High school me has decided that if she doesn't want to get into arguments with extended family on Facebook or with beloved friends in real life, she'll keep her mouth shut. But on this election, I find myself in a position that I don't think my highly opinionated self has ever been in before: I honestly think this election is going to be a lose-lose situation either way.

This will be the first election I will be able to vote in, and I still don't know what I'm going to do, with November just a few months away. Most of my conversations with friends have resulted in lines such as "Well, better Trump than Hillary." or, "I'll take Hillary over Trump." Half of the population seems to hate them both, but still prefer their party's candidate over the other's.

So all the arguments on social media are so incredibly frustrating and pointless that I've been tempted to block half of the people on my friends list. But when it comes down to it, please just be respectful. Your love or hate for one candidate or the other makes no difference on you as a person, and it shouldn't make a difference on the people around you. No matter their political views or their support of a particular candidate, everyone deserves to be respected. You see videos constantly of supporters on opposite sides yelling at each other and spouting off cruel words...all in the name of a candidate that probably wasn't even their first choice in this election.

No one deserves to be disrespected for their political views.

Yeah, in the back of my mind I have a candidate that I would prefer over the other. But when I see others supporting the opposite candidate, the last thing I think of is how much I want to "set them straight" or prove my point to them. People think differently, and their political and social views are their own. Everyone deserves to be respected and loved regardless of who they support.

So to recap, I don't care who you're voting for. I care if you're being a decent person to the people who think differently than you.
