While cold and flu season is coming to an end, the threat of coronavirus (COVID-19) is becoming a real fear around our country. Memes galore exist (surely you've seen the ones going around about cheap flights), but it is important for young adults to learn best practices and tips as a means to prevent the spread of diseases and viruses.

Though healthy young adults seemingly do not have an overwhelming cause for concern, it is important for us to be as hygienic as possible to prevent spreading an illness to someone statistically more susceptible. One of the biggest pieces of advice floating around is to wash hands often and thoroughly; So, here is a short list of songs to sing while scrubbing those hands:

"Africa" by Toto

Chorus lyrics: "It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you / There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do / I bless the rains down in Africa / Gonna take some time to do the things we never had"

"No Scrubs" by TLC

Chorus lyrics: "No, I don't want no scrubs / a scrub is a guy that can't get no love from me / hangin/ out the passenger side of his best friend's ride / trying to holla at me / I don't want no scrubs / a scrub is a guy that can't get no love from me / hangin' out the passenger side of his best friend's ride / trying to holla at me"

"Escape (The Pina Colada Song)" by Rupert Holmes

Chorus lyrics: "If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain / If you're not into yoga, if you have half a brain / If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape / I'm the love that you've looked for, write to me, and escape"

"...Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears

Chorus lyrics: "My loneliness is killing me (and I) / I must confess I still believe (still believe) / When I'm not with you / I lose my mind / Give me a sign / Hit me, baby, one more time"

"American Pie" by Don McLean

Chorus lyrics: "Bye, bye Miss American Pie / Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry / And them good ole boys were drinking whiskey and rye / Singin' this'll be the day that I die / This'll be the day that I die"

Happy washing, and don't forget to get under those nails!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
