I Can Believe Trump Actually Won!

Before I begin talking about my personal opinion on Trump being president of the United States, and how I personally feel about this election, I would like it to be know that I do not support either of the candidates that ran. I also want to put out there that I did not vote in this election and while I have my personal reasons as to why I did not vote, a major one is that I feel like I should not have to chose between the lesser of two evils. With all of this being said let me start getting into this article.

Firstly, I would like to say that I am not surprised that Trump won this election, and I knew all along that he was going to win. Donald Trump was different that any other candidate. He resonated with people because he was more open and honest about his views rather than being political, and to me that definitely was an attention grabber for a lot of people. Trump showed that he was a regular person rather than a politician, and he said a lot of things that other people would not have said, and that, I feel, made people like him even more while making a lot hate him even more as well.

For me personally, because I did not vote, I cannot be mad at the fact that he won, and I will not be mad at the people who voted for the candidate that they felt represented them the most. However, what I can say is that I am one of the many people around this country that are afraid of what the future holds for when he is in office. I have two ways of viewing Donald Trump at this point. Firstly I am thinking that maybe he made a Machiavellian move to be elected as president. He said all the bad things he needed to say, and did all the bad things he needed to do to get elected, but once he enters office there is a possibility it may not be as bad as we think. This is reasonable to say because coming from a non-political background, he had to be known and noticed some how, and to be honest, being the bad guy brings a lot of publicity even if it is bad.

The other thing I am thinking and this scares me a lot is that what he was saying is true and he is going to try to do all the things that he said he will do once he gets into office. This scares me a lot because the entire government is pretty much Republican and though that is not a bad thing, it is very scary because it means that things he wants done can get passed. As a Christian I want to cling to hope and think it is impossible, as a political science major and hearing thoughts of lawyers and political scientists, it is fair to say that Trump can do not what he wants but pretty much what he wants.

With all of this being said it is really scary to see how this is going to unfold in the future. I am very disappointed that America has reached this point; however, I also understand why it has. My call to everyone though, is that even though we are afraid, please remember that violence is never the answer. Now is a time for us to stand together and unite rather than be divided. Do not allow this to come in between this nation as a whole. We are all afraid, and we are all seeing changes already, especially those that are facing hate crimes. My prayer is that everything will get better and as we all go through this tough time together it will only bring us closer.

May God continue to bless us all and I may God continue to strengthen us all.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
