Ruff Start Rescue

When I think of home, I think of my family, my comfy bed, a place where I feel safe and that I can call my own. It's truly an amazing feeling. So don't you think everyone should be able to have a place where they can call home? Ruff Start Rescue provides opportunities for people to share theirs with dogs who were less fortunate, and bring them into the family. They may have had a 'Ruff Start,' but when you adopt one of these little guys, you won't just be making their day; you'll be giving them the opportunity to start over. New Family, new home, and a new, happy life.

Jango

This little cutie is a male pit bull terrier and pointer mix. At about two months old, he really couldn't get much cuter. Am I right or am I right?

Flower

Ruff Start describes Flower as the poster child for Dog Rescue. She and her brother were wrapped in a towel and left on a door step as newborns. The two struggled to survive every day due to a physical cause that made it difficult for them to eat a ful meal in one siting. Her brother unfortunately did not make it and and passed at 13 days old, and for weeks it seemed like Flower would as well.

Flower is a border collie and labrador retriever mix so it's very important for her to have a family that can challenge her both mentally and physically, giving her an outlet for her high energy. This little girl is very curious and gets along with lots of other animals, including llamas, pigs, horses and other dogs (when one on one).

Pow Wow

POW WOW! That's fun to say, right?! This handsome Shiba Inu came a long way to Ruff Start Rescue from Louisiana, but is very much enjoying the Minnesota life. Pow Wow is still young so he is fairly energetic and loves running in short bursts, which makes him the perfect workout buddy for runners. He is a little shy when it comes to meeting other dogs so he prefers slow introductions, but does great when he's introduced to new people.

Adrian

Looking for a dog who can keep up with your active lifestyle? Let me introduce you to Adrian.

Adrian, who also goes by the name Apollo, is an American pit bull terrier and big goof ball. He absolutely loves playing catch with Frisbees and tennis balls (or anything you want to toss), so those with a big back yard or who are willing to bring him to the park often to play would be his best friend.

Hugo

Need some positivity in your life? Then you should meet Hugo. As an 8-month-old German shepherd mix, Hugo is a sweet, social pup that's great with kids and other dogs. He was rescued from the reservation in South Dakota and found with an injury that unfortunately led to the removal of one of his legs. But as you can tell from his photo, Hugo's personality shines bright. He's a little puzzled with the idea of wood floors and driveways, but is on his way to learning the ropes of life in a home.

Tortilla

Tortilla here is a chihuahua and just over two years old. She is a little cautious around new people, but surely would do great in a home with a loving familly.

Gemma

Have you ever seen such cute eyes?! Gemma is a large, 1-year-old American pit bull terrier who weighs about 49 pounds. She was recently rescued from a local animal control facility where she was scared and desperate for affection. This experience led her to be a little cautious, but she warms up to people quickly and likes to show her loving side with lots of kisses and cuddles. Gemma isn't descried as being "high energy," but she absolutely loves going on walks. She was given her name by her foster mother who says she is a "little gem" and "the total package" with her gentle nature.

Prinz

This handsome man joined the Ruff Start Rescue crew after they bailed him out of a shelter, where he had been for around eight months. He obviously doesn't let that time of his life get the best of him though. Prinz is believed to have never had a family before. Even so, this goof ball is great with people and kids. He's intelligent, eager to please, and his foster mom describes him as a very fast learner (especially if you give him a ball; he'll do anything for a ball!). I mean really though, can this guy get any happier?!

Scruffy

Scruffy is a senior brussels griffon and shih tzu mix. Weighing about 13 pounds, his lion's mane look and small under bite give him a completely unique look. This sweet fella is on his way to becoming an expert with belly bands and will stand by the door to let you know when he has to go out. Scruffy is geat with other dogs and is a big fan of car rides (especially when that car ride is headed to the dog park). For those days you'd rather stay home, he also loves playing with balls and chewies and eating some treats. When you take this little fella home, it's likely you'll find him laying on your lap or sleeping under the covers.

Sync

Sync is a terrier basenji mix, just over a year old and only weighs about nine pounds. She came to Ruff Start Rescue from Louisiana with her friend Vanili

Zeena

Zeena's foster mom found her in pretty rough shape wandering the streets and fighting for her life, which is why she was named after the warrior princess. Since then, couches, snuggling, giving kisses and rolling in blankets have totally become her thing. She has a small snaggle tooth, but don't worry! It's just part of her distinct look. Being a French bulldog and beagle mix she's fairly small in size, and is very friendly meeting people for the first time. While living on her own she was used to chasing a lot of things, so a game of fetch might be a perfect way for you to bond with Zeena!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
