Do you get your eyebrows done? If not, you totally should! The eyebrows are, if not already, the pinnacle of your face. They even give away your personality before you even speak! There are different ways to shape them for you to look and feel your best. However, be careful when shaping- you don't want to look like either a monkey or a fish. You want to keep the slivers of hair above your eyes a happy medium.
The oldest trick in the book in shaping eyebrows is a pair of old-fashioned tweezers. Yes, to pluck is to pain, but to hair is to free. Being a fan of the tweezers myself, I pluck at least once a week to ensure my brows are looking clean and picture ready! You never know when you might get a close up of your face around campus for everyone to see. Make sure you look presentable. The easiest thing to do is pluck your eyebrows after a nice, warm shower because the water relaxes your hair follicles, and presents a pain-free canvas to get the job done.
Another old trick that has been used since ancient Egypt is waxing. That hot wax that feels like a candle on your head? Yes, it works too! Most people I know get their eyebrows waxed along with their hair cut and styled at the salon. So the next time you want to try a certain brow shape on you, ask your stylist for recommendations. You can actually wax yourself, but I honestly cannot do that seeing as I would be the one to accidentally get the wax in my eye. That's just my luck. Also, some ladies I know pluck themselves in between waxes to get a cleaner look.
Another method of hair removal originating in the Middle East and Asia is called threading. Threading is where an expert takes a thin cotton thread and twists it into a double strand, removing the hair from the follicle. Unlike waxing, it doesn't remove a thin layer of skin, but just the unwanted hairs. And it's not painful like waxing is either, and is used to help people with sensitive skin; it can also last longer.
A recent phenomenon that has garnered the attention of many women across the globe is coloring your eyebrows on. Why? I do not know the answer myself, but the process is actually neat. Start by first getting rid of those stray hairs. Pencil in the outline of your eyebrows on bottom. Figuring out where your ends and natural arch are can mean the difference in you looking like a lizard or a clown! Then fill your eyebrows in with a powder, moving toward a more natural look with brow powder that is one or two shades lighter than your actual hair color to give you a more natural look if you have dark hair. For example, if you have jet black hair, use light brown or charcoal. If you light brown hair, go with a color that has a slight reddish tent.
I'm a man and I think this is neat. But I'll stick with my twelve pairs of tweezers since my eyebrows are dark and thick. Please take this advice, as I would hate to know you read this article and are still sporting the always fabulous uni-brow. I promise, you can score about ten more dates if you take the time to do your eyebrows.
