The 45th President of the United States is in fact Donald Trump. He will be the person who will serve us, the people of this amazing country for at least the next four years and it's time for all of us to deal with it.
Considering I'm with her, Hillary Clinton, it hit hard when President Trump was elected. I was upset and thought of all the negative things that that man has said or done and how it's going to be carried over into the most important seat in the world. Despite being in awe of our country for voting for someone who has no political background, I will never chant or say "He is not my President." I am a Democrat and I would have rather given that seat to someone worthy of it, but nothing can be done now because he IS our President.
Instead of continuing to be upset I will use my most important rights as an American and I will fight for what I, and many others, believe is right. There are many things that he will unfortunately try and change, but we have to remember all of the things this country has conquered throughout history.
We the people have abolished slavery.
We the people have given women the right to vote.
We the people have been given the right to marry and love who we want.
We are a country of amazing citizens; all races, religions, etc. When we take one step backwards, we push through and take two steps forward. So no, instead of whining about Donald Trump being our POTUS I will exercise the rights that our country has fought hard for. This is our time to create something bigger and better than that of the electoral college.
I will not hope for him to fail because if he fails, he'll take us all down with him and we need to rise above. I will not wish and try to move to a different country, this is my country. The country that I will stay in for all of the future Presidents to come. The country that I will welcome, with open arms, all minorities and "undocumented" immigrants if they enter peacefully and with the best intentions. Diversity makes the United States the United States. Without it we won't be the Land of the Free and the country that people dream of living in. I will hope that he is a good President no matter what has been said or done already.
This is our time to use our voices and make these four years go by quickly and smoothly, not violently and slowly. This is our time to show the world that this country is what it's hyped up to be and that one single POTUS can't deteriorate a country full of amazing citizens and non-citizens. This is not our time to pretend that he is not our President. This is our time to deal with what we've been given and create something for history to remember.
