What's Going On With the European Immigration Crisis
New York Times

The immigration crisis occurring in Europe is still happening as we speak. Europe’s deep divide over immigration was exposed at an European Union summit being held in Brussels.

Four leaders that make up the eastern European countries met in Prague on Monday for a conference that was about anti-immigration. The leaders came together to discuss their borders being exposed to the flood of immigrants coming to Europe. The leaders demanded an alternative EU policy be made by next month. Their plan amounts to exporting Hungary’s zero-immigration razor-wire model to the Balkans and sealing Macedonia’s border with northern Greece. By doing this, the number of immigrants trying to get to Europe would decrease by a double digit percentage.

Germany being one of the countries recently taking the most refugees is depending on a resolution to help light then load off their backs. Angela Merkel the German Chancellor has been known to be one that's against Multiculturalism calling it a "grand delusion," and saying immigrants will have to simulate into German society by; taking on the language, holidays, and culture. All of this talk of Multiculturalism from Chancellor Merkel most likely stems from her struggling to salvage the open-door policy while the number of other European countries move to close any borders that allow immigrants from entering the country and seeking refugee status.

One of the countries other than Germany and Sweden who is facing a huge issue with immigration is Britain. With a good economy, and low unemployment, many refugees even from other European Union countries flee to Britain i to get a job, and better life. Over the years though that issue has started to worsen, and form the Brexit campaign. The campaign decided if Britain would stay with the European Union, or go on its own path. As seen weeks ago the English public decided that they wanted to leave the European Union thus closing the open borders policy between Britain and the rest of the European Union.

The EU has enacted numerous policies over the past year giving a sense of a continent at war. In June, the outcome of the meeting was a 10-point plan. The plan included the use of military force “to capture and destroy” the boats used to smuggle migrants. Soon afterwards, Hungary and other east European countries began erecting razor-wire fences.

Germany, Austria, France, Sweden and Denmark suspended Schengen rules and reintroduced border controls. In November, the EU struck a deal with Turkey, promising it up to $3.3 billion in return for clamping down on its borders. This month, Denmark passed a law allowing it to seize valuables from asylum seekers to pay for their upkeep.

Research has shown that Multiculturalism has been decreasing with Europeans, so future polices will be something to keep an eye one.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
