Every year, I want to read more to expand my knowledge of words and stories but I never have time to lie down and read. I make a reading list of new books to read from sources from Tumblr, Goodreads, Barnes & Noble or recommend/Booktubers but it is always the same genre that I am comfortable in. In my English class, my teacher mentioned novels that every reader has read but I haven't brought up new things to read about. I do want to read more diversely. I have found that if you limit yourself to one particular genre, you are missing out on other books that enhance your reading experience. I already have some books planned for this year, but of course, I want to read as many as I possibly can in the next ten months.
Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail By Cheryl Strayed
Wild is about her own memoir of the 1,100 mile solo hike along the Pacific Crest Trial, from the Mojave Desert and hiking through California & Oregon to the Bridge of the Gods into Washington and talks about why she had done this eventful walk.
My English teacher recommended my entire class to read this book even though it was mostly at me to read it because I am currently a Creative Writing Major.
Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand
Unbroken is about the life story of Louie Zamperini, an Olympic runner and military aviator in World War II. He was lost at sea and years of horrific abuse as a prisoner of war in Japan.
My English teacher also recommended this novel to my class and to myself to expand our reading and writing skills as students.
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
Six of Crows is about Ketterdam, which is a hub for the internal trade, where anything can be for the right price and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. He is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams.
I have heard of this book series but I never read anything worth a mental thinking of solving something so unique. Also I really love the cover because it reminds me of a poem by Edgar Allen Poe.
The Iron Trial by Cassandra Clare
The Iron Trial is about Callum Hunt who wants to fail the Iron Trial. His father warns him to stay away from magic. If he succeeds at the Iron Trial and is admitted into the Magisterium, he is sure that only bad things can happen for him.
I really loved Cassandra Clare's works because it brings a lot of imagination and creative ways into her novels to be more realistic.
