“Hi, my name is Alleigh from ‘Lizzie McGuire,’ and you’re watching Disney Channel.”
Except I’m not a Disney Channel star. I once played Opal in a school production of “Because of Winn-Dixie” before I ventured into music. You could call it my “big break.”
As a child, I spent hours in front of the TV saying the “and you’re watching Disney Channel” line while moving around my invisible wand to make the classic Disney mouse ears.
Don’t pretend you didn’t do this too.
I had a vivid imagination. My friends and I dreamed of one day starring on a show and having our own wand commercial like Hillary Duff, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Raven Symoné, Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale, Dylan and Cole Sprouse, and you get the idea.
Recently, videos of Disney stars making their “wand IDs” were found and shared online. Watching these videos reminded me of my favorite childhood shows.
Because I’m busy with school and life in general, I don’t watch TV much. I haven’t seen a rerun of “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody” or “Hannah Montana” in years. I have no idea what happened in “Girl Meets World” for the past two seasons so if you could fill me in, I’d be grateful.
Who knows? Maybe one day we’ll do mouse ears and sparkly wands. For now, I’ll focus on school so I can fulfill a dream I’ve had longer—becoming a dentist.
