9 Songs From Disney Channel Original Movies To Put On Your Running Playlist
Disney

I love Disney Channel original movies (yes, even as an almost-20-year-old) and I love running, so I thought it would be a fun idea to combine my two loves into one 30-minute running playlist. Some of these songs are from the classics, others from the newer, probably lesser-known movies. I know everyone gets pumped up for a run by varying types of music, so while not all of these are guaranteed to get your feet moving, still give them a try. Who knows? They might surprise you and you'll be running with the spirit of Disney every day!

1. Play My Music (Camp Rock)

Okay, I know I said they might not all get your feet moving, but I guarantee that this one will. It is one of my favorite songs to run to! From the first line, “Turn on that radio, as loud as it can go,” the energy level is through the roof, the beat thumping behind the words, pushing your feet along with it. It's the kind of song that motivates you when you are fatiguing and pushes you to work even harder.

2. We’re All in This Together (HSM)

When listening to this song, you can imagine running with tons of dedicated, energetic people (and maybe Zac Efron?); you all "make each other strong." You may feel compelled to dance with your arms as you run—if you're brave enough, do it, fellow gym-goers will be jealous of your workout zeal.

3. She’s So Gone (Lemonade Mouth)

I thought "Lemonade Mouth" was the bee's knees when it came out in 2011. (Holy cow, that makes me feel old!) This upbeat tune of defiance and maturing starts slow, but once the chorus comes, the song seems to catch on fire, as will your legs as you run and run and run.

4. It’s On (Camp Rock 2)

Drums! A little guitar please...1, 2, 3,4! Show the world what you got as you "rock it, rock it, rock it" and run 'till you drop!

5. Cloud 9 (Cloud 9)

"This must be how it feels to fly" is an accurate statement. Running is exhilarating and may just put you on "Cloud 9." The song even tells you to go hard, "push it to the limit" and to "never give up." Encouraging for when you are ready to quit? Yes indeed!

6. Cruisin’ for a Bruisin’ (Teen Beach Movie)

I love this song for running. It literally starts with "you better run, run run, " I mean, come on, that's perfect! You can pretend that instead of "riding fast like a bullet," you are running fast like one.

7. Something About the Sunshine (Starstruck)

This song has a very beachy, pop vibe that energizes me for a run. I imagine I'm running along the ocean or by the palm trees, the sun shining down. It's probably not your typical workout song, but it's worth a shot, right?

8. One and the Same (Princess Protection Program)

"Hey, hey, hey!" Does anyone else remember this Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato movie from 2009? (Ah! That makes me feel even older!) I was obsessed with it, and this peppy song. The drums and guitar make it impossible to keep still. Even if you weren't working out, you'd feel the urge to move your feet.

9. Heart and Soul (Camp Rock 2)

Yes, this is the third Camp Rock song in this list. What can I say? Camp Rock is the best at all ages and at all times. Do you have the heart and soul of the Jonas Brothers to get you through your run?

Hopefully some of these will suit your fancy and will add some Disney magic to your workouts!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
