If you're a millennial, you know how powerful the early 2000s were. I would perhaps argue that the early 2000s was the time that we as millennials flourished the most. The 00s was a time where we could candidly be our prepubescent selves and thrive in our awkwardness and cringe-worthy lingo.
The early 2000s was filled with so much quality across the board! From the music to the fashion to the boys, the early 2000s was simply a grand old time. I don't know about you, but I miss my childhood so much. Times were just simpler and better. Get ready for a nostalgia roller coaster.
Here are 9 things I miss the most about the early 2000s.
*In Justin Timberlake's voice* It's gonna be great!
1. The powerful bops
The music from this time was out of this world. The emergence of Britney Spears, Destiny's Child, and Hilary Duff truly graced us with the sound of the early 2000s. And let's not forget about boy bands please! NSYNC and The Backstreet Boys were all the rage and sparked pretty crazy debates. And just in case you're wondering, I'm NSYNC all the way. Bye, bye, bye.
2. The heartthrobs
My young pure soul wasn't ready for all the teen heartthrobs that the early 2000s dished out. Zac Efron. The Jonas Brothers. Corbin Bleu. Jesse McCartney. Chad Michael Murray. Are you joking!? I honestly thought I was engaged to Ryan Phillippe after watching "Cruel Intentions" and I'm sure I'm not alone.
3. The iconic TV shows
I can't tell you how many hours I spent watching TV during the early 2000s. There were so many amazing shows that I just had to watch all of them. Anything on Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel was my ultimate jam. "Boy Meets World" stands to be my favorite show from the early 2000s. I honestly still can't get over how goals Corey and Topanga's relationship was. Simply adorable.
4. The Oscar-worthy Disney Channel original movies
FACT: All Disney Channel Original movies are cinematic masterpieces. I learned so much about myself as a human being through watching a lifetimes supply of Disney Channel Original films.
" High School Musical" taught me how to keep my head in the game. "The Cheetah Girls" taught me that I shouldn't be a Cinderella waiting for somebody to come and set me free. "The Lizzie McGuire Movie" taught me that I should go to Rome, get mistaken for an Italian pop star, pretend to be her, and live my best life. Now that's education.
5. The timeless Lisa Frank
Owning any Lisa Frank merch automatically made you the most popular kid in school. The Lisa Frank style is pretty iconic. The colorful neon animal fantasy was supreme, and I wouldn't be ashamed to pop out a Lisa Frank notebook today as a 19-year-old college student. Sorry, not sorry.
6. The revolutionary fashion
The early 2000s graced the world with perhaps some of the most revolutionary fashion. The crimped hair, chokers, belts over tops, and Von Dutch hats all made for an extraordinary period of fashion.
7. Paris Hilton
I was obsessed with Paris Hilton during the early 2000s. She was everything! From her pink suede tracksuits to her iconic one-liners, I was compelled to Paris's world of glitz and glamour. Plus she was in "The Simple Life", arguably one of the best reality shows ever made. That's hot.
8. The supreme snacks
Please don't get me started on the snacks of the early 2000s! The food during my childhood was incredible. Dunkaroos, purple ketchup, and 3-D Doritos were all a pretty significant part of my diet. No. Regrets.
9. The innovative toys
They don't make toys like they did in the early 2000s. I would almost levitate from my living room sofa when a commercial came on for Moon Shoes or the new Bratz doll. Playing with toys was a pretty important part of my life. It was actually all I did. Those Moon Shoes are addictive, man.
It's safe to say that I am pretty obsessed with all things early 2000s. The early 2000s was so pure and out of this world. My nostalgia occurs pretty regularly and thank god it does. Thinking of simpler times is such an amazing way to reflect on where you were, where you are now, and where you're going. Life goes on but the memories of my childhood ring on forever in my heart. Now that's bitchin.
