Discover Your Purpose
Crosby Hinze

I want everyone who is reading this to close your eyes for 5 seconds and go back to your younger ages. When you were a 5 year old kid, what was your dream? What did you always tell people you wanted to be when you grow up? READY GO, 5......4......3......2......1.... Okay open them, Now think about where you are now? Do you or are you still working to accomplish your childhood dream? Kudos to those who have accomplished that already, for those of you who are doing something different, I just want to let you know that God has you right where he wants you and even greater plans than you could ever imagine.

I personally, wanted to be a professional football player. My ultimate dream was to play for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and get drafted after my senior year. I used to play football in my front yard all by myself, I would be both the home and visitor teams as well as the fans, referee's, and I would occasionally create my own injuries to make things a little more dramatic. I was so set on making the NFL that my whole life revolved around the game. As I grew older, I soon realized that getting to the NFL was harder than I thought. You had to be big, tall, and fast.... Well when I reached high school, I was only 5"6', 150 pounds, and not that fast. That was when I realized that the professional football career was out of the picture. When you get older and you realize the childhood dream you once had is getting further and further away from your actual future, your attitude changes, and you soon become confused on what you want to do with your life. Maybe you feel as if you failed everything because you didn't grow up to be a professional athlete or whatever it was. I am here to tell you that you never failed. I am a believer in the One True King, Jesus Christ and in Proverbs 20:5 it says, "The purpose of a person's heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out." I absolutely love this verse because we were all made in the image of God. Each of us here was born with a purpose that we can discover or completely miss.

I had a dream to become a professional athlete, but I later realized that God had a different purpose for me in life. I, as well as two other of my friends are now working on creating a business like no other watch or sunglasses company. Never in a million years would I ever guess that God would lead me to having a new dream of becoming a young entrepreneur. He has given me a vision to help children in Africa get an education and help those without a home or job make income without judging who they are or where they came from. EVERY SINGLE PERSON is destined to do and be something great. That is why I believe God has guided me towards entrepreneurship, to inspire those who thought they were not good enough for anything. You will go through obstacles to accomplish your purpose, but would it really be an accomplishment if there weren't a few bumps in the road? One of the coolest things that I can remind all of you, is that The Good Lord has you right where He wants you. No matter how much you are struggling to find your purpose, He is always looking out for his children; you just gotta trust that He knows what your plans are.

So now, I want you all to take a deep breathe and close your eyes again. This time, I want you to think about what you are currently doing. Are you doing what God wants you to do? Or is He telling you something different. When you open your eyes, whatever it is; I want you to strive to accomplish it and never look back because I know you will achieve it. Ready?.....5.....4.....3.....2.....1.....GO.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
