Here we are... The big event that everything has been leading up too. The Presidential election! And it's between two people, who arguably are the worst candidates in American history. When I'm asked to describe them, I use the terms "corrupt" and "crazy".
Now, I love politics. To me, it's fantastic learning about policies and how they are implemented to the rest of the world. I've been looking forward to the presidential election ever since I was little. Being able to vote and decide who's going to represent the country in the future. Leading up to this election I followed what I could about the candidates when I could, and to my horror, the country somehow managed to narrow the presidential candidates down to these two.
Words can't describe how disappointed I feel about this. I've looked forward to the presidential election so much, and I hate both of these candidates. I'm utterly horrified to imagine what they could do within the next four years of the presidency. I can't even imagine Donald Trump's state of the union address, much less Hillary Clinton's.
I know no candidate is ever going to be a shining example of what America should be, but I wanted them to be better than this! Donald Trump's history of sexual remarks and accusation and his harassment of several of American citizen is terrifying. But Clinton's history in scandal and two-face politics doesn't give me any confidence in her policy at all.
I've looked forward to the day I could vote ever since I was in first grade. And now that's it have finally arrived I feel very let down. All that hype I've built up for well over a decade has lead to a massive disappointment.
Now, perhaps I'm being too pessimistic. I say that because back during my junior year of high school he said something that has managed to stick with me over the past couple of years, now I am paraphrasing here. It was along the lines of simply. "We can't evaluate how well a president has done their job until 10 years or so after their presidency."
Perhaps, they will somehow managed to implement a policy which transforms the way we live in America for the better. Or perhaps there I'm being far to optimistic.
I love America, It's the greatest country in the world. I've been giving countless opportunities here, one of these is my right to vote. Despite finding both of these candidates to be utterly deplorable, I know who I plan to vote in this upcoming election. I only hope that they will be able to represent America the way it deserves to be represented. Because they will manage to find their place in world history if they win the election, and I want America to have a bright future, not one that'll be rippled in scandal.
