A Dignified Talk About: Tomi Lahren
Jelani Splawn

When you think of political commentators, the thought of Bill Maher comes to mind. Commentators usually have a good ability to disseminate news to the public properly, balancing out thoughtful perspectives while giving out valuable information that the people can think upon. That’s what happens when you’re a professional political commentator. Things get done properly, and people respectfully take notice. However, there’s just some pundits that simply overdo it. What seems to be just an opinion, spirals down to incoherent rants, giving the media an ever worse name than it already has. At this point, it isn’t a show about political commentators, but yellow journalism, and no one likes that. You can thank America’s sourpuss, Tomi Lahren for that.

For those of you who do not know, Tomi Pickles Lahren is an American television host and a conservative’s political commentator. When she’s not yelling at you on the camera, Ms. Lahren is often yelling at you for three minutes online, often expressing her opinion about major events and situations. Her “magnum opus” was her criticism of Beyoncé’s Super Bowl performance back in February. Since then, people began to take notice of Tomi Bahama Lahren and her ability to turn redder than a lobster within a millisecond.

All joking aside, the “television host” gained a lot of popularity, especially from the conservative spectrum. Her bold speech and seemingly no-nonsense attitude really gets people going. She’s a fascination to conservatives, a pariah to liberals, and that’s the way Tomi Hilfiger Lahren likes it. The attention gets her a desired 15 minutes of fame, regardless of people liking or hating her. From my perspective, I can’t seem to understand why people like her, let alone tolerate her. Is it because her name is easy to make fun of? Or maybe it is because her face looks scrunched up as if she sucked a one too many warheads. Whatever the reason, I can’t imagine one.

Don’t get me wrong, I do not hate the lady, I just don’t consider Tomi Lee Jones Lahern an actual pundit compared to those like Bill O’Reily or Sean Hannity. She’s more of an amalgamation of yellow journalism and whatever Fox News spews out. Her final thoughts are more aggressive and ferocious, leaving little to no room to actual interesting perspectives. Jerry’s final thoughts have more depth and understanding, and that guy has a show that knocks brain cells out the park. I guess what I’m trying to say is, that Tomi Gunn Lahren (I’m running out of jokes, don’t judge me) isn’t the type of person I would go to for sound judgment and decent opinions. It seems that her whole shtick is to yell at others without giving it a second thought. At least with Bill Maher you get to learn something special at the end of the day, and a little more sarcastic. With Tomi, she just really makes you go to bed mad, mainly at yourself for watching her shows. Hopefully, there’s something else on TV.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
