We have the greatest fans, the most rowdy crowds, the most intense tailgates, and sometimes we get a little wild before, during, and after the game. Lions fans, Tigers fans, Red Wings fans, Pistons fans: We get the best of all worlds. Football, baseball, a kick-a** hockey team, and basketball. No favoritism intended.
Lions Fans. Mascot: Roary the Lion
1. We get excited over the littlest things.
Small victories or accomplishments will be with no doubt celebrated. It will be spread throughout social media, and give us some type of bragging rights for a little while.
2. We come into things wanting high expectations, but expecting low.
Every year we walk into a new season unsure of what the outcome will be. In 2008 we walked away with a 0-16 record (Thank you, Rod Marinelli). Then in 2014, we walked out with a 11-5 record; see? There is no pattern here.
3. We have a hard time not getting our hopes up.
We may not initially expect much, but deep down we are dreamers, and dreamers believe the Lions will do big things.
4. Disappointment is common in our lives.
One of our main reasons for disappointment can be found in the final quarter of some Lions games.
5. We are the most devoted and loyal people you will ever meet.
No matter what the situation is, we will be there by your side through hell and high water. And we will stand there defending you with every piece of history that has ever existed.Tiger's fans. Mascot: Paws the Tiger
1. Opening day is like a holiday!
Every single year Comerica Park attracts thousands of Detroit fans; it is the biggest game of the year next to the world series game.
2. You are willing to watch games through the fence at Comerica Park.
Standing room tickets are going for $80 and up, but you bet the dedicated fans will stand and not move from the spot they are able to get.
3. Who's your tiger? Miguel Cabrera... enough said.
Come on, his season average for 2015 was 149.0.
4. You'll even sit through rain just to watch a Tigers game.
That is what your umbrella is for, and we are from Michigan; you never know if it's going to be rain or shine, or snow, maybe even some hail.
5. You will never forget how much Prince Fielder disappointed us.
His comments, and performance, were not expected, but see ya never.
Red Wings Fans. Mascot: Al the Octopus
1. Postseason.
At this point, we expect the Wings to make it into the playoff season. For 24 consecutive seasons the wings have made it into the postseason. This is the longest streak in the NHL!
2. What other team throws out an octopus on the ice?
Fans go to gross extents to bring octopus into the the games, as far as wrapping it around them under their shirts and making sure they can manage to throw it on the rink.
3. Dylan Larkin.
We have a 19-year-old superstar on our team. He has an outstanding goal streak this season, and along with many assists, he has brought a lot of new interest to Detroit and has given the Wings lots of new attention.
4. Hockeytown.
No other place in American is known as "hockeytown" other than Detroit, and boy do we deserve it. There are countless bars and restaurants with the Red Wings theme, flag, or banner; without a doubt, the Wings are well respected in Detroit and all around the mitten.
5. We may love our old home, but our new home is underway.
While all of us Wings fans have a connection to the Joe Louis Arena, we are nearing the end of it all, where it all began. Soon the lights will shut off, the banners will be moved, and we will be in our new home.
Piston's fans. Mascot: Hooper the Horse
1. The Palace of Auburn Hills.
The arena opened in 1988 and is the home of the Detroit Pistons of the National Basketball Association. It is a beautiful place to be, and would you believe me if I told you that I walked across the stage and graduated high school there?
2. History is made.
At one point or another you loved the Pistons, whether you want to admit it or not. It was not that long ago that the pistons were winning titles. Someone explained this to me, "The Pistons are like being in a marriage; we have good times and we have bad times, but we continue to make it work."
3. Promising future ahead.
Yes, I know their record doesn’t show it, but the Pistons have pieced together a very solid young core.
4. The east will be winnable; just give it some time.
It’s going to be a couple of years before the Pistons are ready to seriously contend, and that’s a good thing.
5. They really aren't that bad.
OK, I’m not saying over the past few years the Pistons have been great, but people act like they are the worst team in NBA history. And I mean, come on, if Kid Rock can still be behind them, then we should be able to have some faith too.
"Detroit is like Rock and Roll. It's like soul. Detroit is like the whole idea of cool. If you have to explain it to someone, they probably won't understand. You have to see it. Live it. Be it. That's when Detroit starts to move you."
