If you’re from northern Ohio (and/or surrounding areas), you know there is no better way to spend a summer’s day than twisting and turning your way through Cedar Point. I mean, it is the roller coaster capital of the world for a reason, right? Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the rest of the Peanuts gang will greet you upon entrance, and you’ll spend the rest of the day running from the Midway to Frontier Town in attempts to ride every coaster! Whether you’re an America’s Roller Coast rookie or a seasoned Ride Warrior, these coasters do not and will not disappoint. Without further ado, here is the definitive ranking of each of Cedar Point’s thrilling roller coasters. Disclaimer: Everyone is entitled to their opinions, this is just simply one of a single roller coaster connoisseur.
1. Millennium Force
Even after 16 years, Millennium is still the best ride in the entire park! I mean, it’s called “The Force” for a reason. Waiting for hours on end in the blistering hot sun hoping for the misting fan to spray your burning flesh is totally and completely worth the two minutes of pure joy and thrill that the Millennium gives you! Pro tip: Wait to grab lunch at Panda Express after you get off the ride. Your tummy will thank you! ;)
2. Valravn
Cedar Point’s rookie coaster will literally take your breath away. Not only does Valravn break numerous records, it will also knock your socks off! Nothing beats feeling your stomach in your throat while riding the world’s tallest and longest dive coaster!
3. Gatekeeper
Coming in with the bronze medal, GateKeeper is one of CP’s most valuable assets. It only gives you the slightest bit of anxiety when twisting and turning through the keyholes, but that’s just half the fun!
4. Top Thrill Dragster
The ride’s over and done with before you even blink your eyes! Some might even say that it’s the best 30 seconds of their entire existence. The adrenaline rush is so real; it’s so indescribable that everyone needs to experience it at least once in their lives!
5. Maverick
Did you know this coaster was designed to reflect the ride of a wild horse? Hence the name Maverick. I know, I know- Mind. Blown. Maverick has so many unexpected twists and turns that your inner wild child will surely be satisfied.
6. Raptor
There’s no better coaster to greet you at the front of the park than Raptor. It’s an oldie but a goodie! I mean what other roller coaster gives you the opportunity to “kick the sky?”
7. Magnum XL 200
Magnum is one of CP’s hidden gems! With minimal lines and wild hills, thrill seeking is inevitable!
8. Iron Dragon
The Iron Dragon is, without a doubt, a fan favorite! It even brings a hint of nostalgia as it was many of our first “big kid” roller coaster rides. Admit it- you know you love that quick dip through the mist on the way back to the platform!
9. Gemini
Forget bell bottoms and the disco, Gemini is a straight throwback to the late 70s, and this coaster holds a special place in every CP visitor’s heart! What’s more exciting than racing your friends’ train while zooming down the track in your own? P.S. Blue > Red.
10. Rougarou
Rougarou (formerly known as Mantis) will throw you for a loop (get it?) and keep your adrenaline pumping!
11. Wicked Twister
Say what? Yes, according to Cedar Point's website, Wicked Twister is considered to be a roller coaster! This is arguably the most underrated ride in the park, but you’re not a true roller coaster connoisseur until you’ve ridden this gem at least once.
12. Mean Streak
You mean wooden roller coasters still exist? Why yes, yes they do, and the Mean Streak is one of the world’s tallest wooden coasters that is still in operation! It may be a bit jerky, but it’s all about the experience.
13. Blue Streak
Perhaps it’s not quite as thrilling as Millennium or Dragster, but there is just something so charming about the Blue Streak! Not to mention, it is the oldest coaster in the park opening in 1964. What’s not to love?
14. Corkscrew
If you’re a fan of going upside down countless numbers of times, then the Corkscrew is for you!
15. Cedar Creek Mine Ride
Last but not least, the Cedar Creek Mine Ride takes you to and fro in Frontier Town. Just like Blue Streak, the Mine Ride has been around the block (or track) a few times. It’s the second oldest ride in the park, and despite it’s age, it doesn’t fail to disappoint!
Whether you dig a stomach lurching drop or fancy a flip upside, Cedar Point has a coaster for everyone! Not to mention, there are plenty of other rides and attractions for those thrill seekers who are less adventurous. From Millennium to the Mean Streak, America’s Roller Coast is a riveting, hair-raising good time! Ride on, Ride Warriors, ride on!
Note: Wilderness Run and Woodstock Express are not ranked.
