It never fails. When awards season comes around, every girl I know gathers with her friends, glasses of wine in hand, to judge, love, and loathe the most famous people in the world. I have no defense and am guilty of it as well. There is nothing quite like imagining being a fly on a wall during those red carpet walks and after-parties.
With awards for everything from TV shows to Broadway performances, I would be lying if I said the Grammy’s weren’t my favorite. Not only are all of the performances amazing, but the artists and singers in attendance just seem to have a flair for doing the unpredictable.
Biggest Surprise: Sam Smith. Four Awards later and what does he say? "Thank you for breaking my heart because you got me four Grammys." You do you, you British god. BTW, the Grammys are now being dubbed the Sammy Awards. (Note: not because of the fraternity.)
Biggest Let-down: The Katy Perry-Taylor Swift showdown that just needs to happen already, preferably recorded. Sources say serious effort was put into keeping the two divas apart during the awards show. I’m sure Tay was really happy to see her BFF perform with the boy who seems to have started the feud. One can only imagine what went down afterwards…
Wait… WHAT? Kanye attempted to steal Beck’s album of the year trophy. Apparently it was a pre-planned event. Either way, everyone is confused why Beck won it in the first place.
Beyoncé. Yes, she gets a category of her own. Can she do no wrong? Apparently. She lost Album of the Year and her “Beehive” is not happy. #JusticeForBey is trending worldwide. Looks like she has her work cut out for her in 2015 and needs to release not one, but two surprise albums to win.
Commercial Break... Or not? It took all of us a minute or two to realize there was still a performance happening when we thought it was time for a commercial break. Turns out Target used the Grammy’s commercial breaks to stream a live Imagine Dragons concert. TBD who ok’ed that idea.
