A Letter To Starbucks

What were you thinking?

A Letter To Starbucks
West Coast Cafe

A letter to Starbucks,

We understand that no coffee company in the world could compare to you, the double chocolate chip frap tastes like heaven and your cookies melt in my mouth, but recently you haven’t treated us Americans so well. We all know very well about the “Muslim Ban” issued by President Trump, and while I may save my thoughts on that ban for later, this irrational response to that ban is what we must address now.

Your Corp Chief Executive Officer Howard Schultz promised Americans efforts to give back 10,000 jobs to refugees banned under Trumps executive order, and while I’m all for helping refugees you must be kidding? 10,000 jobs you promise, well did you know there are millions of Americans on your own front porch who would die for those jobs? Men and Women who have fought for our beautiful nation that have no home and are now unemployed because of the little to no support of our federal government and did you even think to give back jobs to the massive sums of undiscouraged Hispanic and Black teens who fight each day to put food on the table for their families? Starbucks, I love your drinks and free wifi but how can we let these US CITIZENS fall into poverty at the expense of REFUGEES.

I know we cannot sell freedom, but these refugees you are defending, how much do they pay in taxes? By chance do you know the amount of welfare and healthcare these foreigners use up before paying back a dime? In my household, we are fortunate enough to pay our bills but the citizens who struggle, the ones who work there rear ends off, the ones who pay their taxes over putting food on the table, where do they fit into your plan? You see, when you make an irrational response hoping to earn positive feedback with morality, you have to understand there are millions of Americans who agree with his ban, and even those who don’t who realize there are greater problems within unemployment and within our own borders.

Your business may defend saying “We are a global company”, but tell me “global company, where were you founded? Seattle, Washington. What nation has fed you the greatest upbringing the coffee industry has ever seen? The United States. Our beautiful nation has provided you with both the resources and power to be one of the strongest competing morning sale companies in the world, yet you find the need to back mind our PRESIDENT in taking the side of REFUGEES who do not legally belong in our country and are ruining our GDP, CPI and the future of our economy? Tell me how that is far to any citizen in the US who buys your drinks, pays their taxes and stays here legally. The rest of the country eats away the problems of your refugees and its time you got a letter telling you every reason why it is a selfish and immoral way to earn respect. There is a famous quote that says “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.”, and I hope its easily noted that we are your home court and we as a nation decide your fate. So, a little respect and support in our future wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Yours truly,

Society

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
