Dear Mom,

I can’t begin to thank you enough for everything that you do for me and the family. I know I don’t always tell you, but thank you for your constant support and help through the years. I would not be the person I am today without. You have sacrificed so much for me and the family. You have made tough decisions and even some mistakes. Thank you for never giving up. You have been so selfless and put the family first. You always did what you thought was best for us.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to all my problems. Thank you for constantly listening to me rant about my life and everything that is wrong with it. Thank you for always being a phone call away. I know there is no way to ever repay you for all that you have done for me, but I hope that you know that you are so loved and appreciated.

Thank you for putting up with me through my bratty teenage years. Though I am sure that you wanted to pull your hair out, you never gave up on me and were always there for me. Thank you for helping me figure out the path of my life and work through my fear of failure. You are my biggest fan and supporter. You have always wanted what was best for me and have done everything in your ability to get me to where I am today. You encouraged me to follow my heart, my dreams, and my God. Thank you for believing in me, especially when I didn’t believe in myself.

You are so loved and cherished by myself and the family. You have held us together through thick and thin. Though times were tough, you never gave up and persevered. I cannot begin to thank you enough for all that you have done and are still doing. You are the greatest mom and have had such an impact on my life. Even though I don’t see you all the time and don't tell you nearly enough, but you are such a blessing to me. I cannot imagine going through life without you.

Love,

Your daughter

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
