Dear Long Distance BFF,
I’m glad we’re long distance. Don’t be mad about that, I have my reasons. If we had gone to the same school, I just know we would be together all the time, living together, eating together, and going out together. But if we had gone to the same school, we wouldn’t experience these perks of being __(insert large number here)__ miles away from each other, and we would certainly be missing out. So even though it may suck and feel like since we're separated, we're all by ourselves, there are definitely perks to being apart.
1. We Always Have Someone To Text.
If we had gone to the same school, there wouldn’t be a reason to constantly text you, because we’d be seeing each other ALL the time. But now that we are separated, we have someone to text about everything, like that hot guy in my English class, that embarrassing fall you had on the quad, or just someone I can text so I don’t look awkward af at parties. (And thanks for letting me FaceTime you basically every weekend at 12 a.m., Mariah.)
2. YOUR College Friends Become MY College Friends.
If we had gone to the same school, chances are we would be hanging out around the same people. Now that we go to different schools, we have double the number of friends! (Shout-out to my new BFFS Jess, Katie, and Alvin!)
3. We Always Have Someone Who Can Visit At School.
Visits at college are almost as great and elite as getting mail at college. Now that we go to different schools, I can force you to visit me and make me look like I have friends!
4. Seeing Each Other (At Any Time) Is An Excuse For A Celebration.
Hey, we don’t get to see each other all the time, that’s a good excuse to go out and spend a bunch of money on food and shopping at Anthropologie, right? (I certainly think so.)
5. It Makes The Time We Spend Together That Much Better.
Since we don’t see each other all the time, we have to maximize the time we DO have together. Spend it completing a bucket list, adventuring, not wasting a minute. Even time that we're apart has to be maximized, because we can still affect each others lives when we're not in the same room (For example, FaceTiming each other on Halloween. That's a night that friends can change each others lives so easily am I right?). And I mean, who else would I text for advice before doing something stupid?
6. It Makes Us Even Closer Friends.
I wasn’t even that close to one of my high school friends before leaving for separate schools (lol sorry Mariah) but it was actually the separation that kind of brought us even closer together. Spending time apart makes us realize how much you value that person in your life (and hey we’ve heard those horror stories of good friendships falling apart in college, thank god that’s not us).
Thanks for being a friend even though we don’t see each other all the time. The long distance is good for the both of us.
See you soon bae,
xoxo
