20 Cliche Wishes

Dear Future Husband

Dear Future Husband,

I know you don’t know who I am yet, or if you do you don’t know what you’ll be to me yet. I don’t know where we will meet or where we will fall in love, but I know you’re out there. Sometimes I catch myself daydreaming in class of the adventures we will go on. At first I tried to stop myself from wishing my life away, but then I started to feel a safety in imagining what the future could hold. Here’s 20 little, cliche daydreams.

  1. I can’t wait to drink coffee and eat delicious diner food with you at 3am on a random night, sober or not.
  2. I am excited to curl up under blankets next to a fire with snacks and a bottle of wine, watching a movie or listening to music.
  3. I want to spend a night lying in a field, letting nature carry our conversations.
  4. I want to lock ourselves in our house for a full 24 hours, blocking out whatever problems life has laid on our doorsteps.
  5. I can’t wait to order two large pizzas and see which one of us can eat more.
  6. I want to wake up one morning and together we decide to randomly take a road trip? Where are we going? We don’t know, and we don’t care.
  7. I long for the day where we spend stupid amounts of money in antique book shops and cute thrift stores, where we buy food we can’t even say the name of, where we ignore the constant stress of money and just have a day treating ourselves.
  8. I want to be young and reckless when we are old, and have days being an old, cute married couple when we are young.
  9. I want to travel, see more and experience more with you by my side. Whether we are drinking margaritas on the tropical sand or living in broken huts on a community service trip, I want to see what this world has to offer.
  10. I am excited to decorate our house together, fight over what color the wall should be and where each piece of furniture should go.
  11. I want to watch scary movies, romance movies, comedy movies, and so much more with you, eating a tub of ice cream that we both know we will regret.
  12. I want to refuse to regret with you. I want to live in the moment, not worry, and understand that everything will be okay with you.
  13. I want to go hiking with you, go biking with you, sweat our asses off in yoga with you, look like a fool in a pilates class with you, suffer the pain of running a marathon with you.
  14. I want to try to sit in silence with you, reading our books with you.
  15. I can’t wait for our competitive sides to get the best of us as we hold poker faces playing card games.
  16. I am excited for our children, to argue over the right way to raise them, to be the embarrassing, proud parents.
  17. I want to dance when no one is watching and dance when everyone is watching.
  18. I want to not care what people think of us, to surround ourselves with the ones who love us and be happy with our goods and bads.
  19. I want to grow old with you, taking every opportunity we have and making it the best that we can.
  20. I want to continue to love you, expanding this wishlist and our daydreams together.
  21. I know I am young, but future husband, it’s hard not to think of all the great things to come, especially when I am trying to fight the bad things I am in alone. If you’re reading this, I can’t wait to meet you.

    Love,

    Your Future Wife

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
