Dear Grandma,
I look to you in complete and utter awe of you beauty and strength. You are one of those people that you don't meet many in a life time; you are something special. When I was young I was overjoyed when you came over or when I got the opportunity to go to your house for a sleepover. I cannot count the times you've been my saving grace. When I'm breaking you have always been there, when I want to just do something and have fun you are always there. The things my grandma has taught me over the years:
1. Have Faith - In yourself and others
You've taught me that I can truly do hard things, even if the confidence is lacking. You've taught me that when I start to shy away from believing in myself to buckle up and push forward. No matter how down I am, you have always brought me up. Always reminding me that, "You are my sunshine, My only sunshine, You make me happy when skies are grey, you never know dear how much I love you."
2. Everyone has good in themselves- you just have to find it.
Judging is a instinct that many people have. You teach me everyday to look beyond their faults and see the good and beauty in every single person. I am proud of the way you have shaped my heart and mind. No matter what has been done to you, you never forget to be kind and especially show you kind heart to those in need.
3. Be Weird
All the jokes you have made with me and my sisters, never fail to crack me up. You are truly a fire cracker of a grandma. You always tell us to be ourselves, have fun and don't forget to break the seriousness with a good laugh. To all the times you would sing to the pussy cats song, "Don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like your grandma!"
4. Beauty
Beauty doesn't come from looks. It comes from your beautiful mind and heart. You taught me that true beauty is being genuine in search of helping others. You taught me that being smart is beautiful. You taught me that being myself is a beautiful thing that should be shown all the time.
5. Being weak is ok.
Having weaknesses is okay. But, standing up from those falls and making the better of those instances is what really counts. Everyone has weak times, but you are strong when you can look forward and run from that darkness.
Grandma, you are clothed in all wisdom of love, agony, and joy. You have lived life and still managed to have an illuminating personality. You are sincerely a force to be reckoned with. You are my sunshine.
"She is clothed with strength and dignity,
and she laughs without fear of the future" (Proverbs 31.25).
