Dear Childhood Best Friend,

First of all, let's give all the credit here to our awesome parents who thought we would be the best of friends — you were right! Thank you for putting us two unique kids together.

I have been so blessed to have had the same best friend throughout my 18 short years of life, or 17, really. From way before I can remember, we were always together. We have made so many unforgettable memories. From the yearly beach trips, Sunday afternoon playdates, and the all-too-familiar sonic trips. I have been so blessed with having the same person to get through every day with throughout my life.

Thank you for always believing in me. Growing up, you have always been behind me 100 percent. On the other hand, most of the times you encouraged me I was probably doing something I wasn't supposed to be (like chasing you with the four wheeler) but hey — you never learn unless you try, right?

Thank you for being a part of my family, and vice versa. I am forever thankful for the family Easters at your house, the Thanksgiving dinners, and the endless birthday parties. I was always treated like a part of the family, and I am so thankful for that. On the other hand, thank you for being a part of my family! Thank you for taking repetitive beach pictures with me, staying the night so we could play in the snow, and going to family dinners with me because I just wasnt ready for you to go home.

Thank you for being the person everyone gets me confused with. Although I've yet to figure this one, I wouldn't want to be confused with anyone else!

Thank you for being my sidekick! Thank you for being that one person that was always beside me. Everyone knew where there was one of us, the other was close.

Thank you for being my walking closet. I cannot begin to count the clothes I have that are yours, and vice versa. I'm sure they even themselves out respectively.

But most importantly, thank you for still being my best friend! Through all of the ups and downs, you've always been right here! Thank you for still being that person I can call when i need someone. Even when that need is so small, you're always here. Most people don't have the luxury of being able to have the same best friend all of their life, but I'm so glad I do! In fact, you have to be the only person that I let steal my clothes, so you must be pretty special! Thank you for making my life a little bit easier, and a lot more fun!

I will always love you and promise to always be your best friend!

Love,

Your Forever Friend

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
