"This is a huge opportunity bitches. DBAA." – Breaking Bad

Some tips about how to stop being an ass to people around you. If nothing from this list is about you – double-check this, please. If it’s not about you even after double-checking, I’m really glad that you exist in this world. Please, call me. I need to know you are a real person.

1. Do not ignore people.

Even if you decided not to talk to them anymore, even if you had a huge quarrel, even if they vote for Trump – it doesn’t mean that they just don’t exist in the same world as you do anymore, okay? If you meet them, especially if it’s someone from the same college as you and you live on the same campus, just… Come on! It’s not as hard as you think just to smile and to say hi. Be polite. Just for a moment, forget about all the stuff happened between you.

2. Do not think that you are the center of the world.

I mean… It’s pretty obvious, no? Sometimes you need to be selfish, it’s true. But not all the time. Just stop for a moment and think about others as you think about yourself.

Attention: if you always think only about others – stop doing this. You deserve attention from yourself too.

3. Do not betray people.

Again, so obvious. I don’t even want to comment on this.

4. Do not boast your achievement if you didn’t work hard or if you reached the same goal easily.

Hard to explain, but if you know that someone worked really hard to achieve something and you got it easily because of your special skills or because of fortune… Don’t even try to tell the person next to you that it was easy and you got it so perfectly. They worked so hard! Tell them that they are good! Because it is important for them.

5. Do not interfere with someone’s life.

If someone didn’t ask for your opinion, don’t try to impose your opinion. You’re not perfect, you can’t know everything to always give advice.

6. Do not use people.

It’s similar to the “do not think that you’re the center of the world” point, but at the same time completely different. Even if sometimes you need to use someone for your own stuff, do not let them understand that you’re using them! If you want to be a secret ass – be a secret ass, but do not break someone’s heart, be a creative secret ass. Or do not be an ass at all.

7. Just don’t be an ass, okay?

Treat others the way you want to be treated, okay? You, obviously, don’t want anyone to be an ass to you, right?

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
