8 Date Ideas For Dummies

Being a college student means getting excited about discounts and free events. It also means understanding that money doesn't grow on trees, especially when your student loan interest is growing as we speak.

How can you make your significant other feel loved without breaking the bank? Here are a few of my favorite dates that my special guy has taken me on. The beauty of loving someone is enjoying their company despite the price tag.

1. Go on a picnic. Pack your flannel blanket, iPhone music speakers, and lunch for two, and head to Craighead Forest Park. There are tons of places to relax overlooking the water and enjoying each other's company. Play a guessing game while you're there or guess each other's favorite things! There's no better way to get to know someone than through genuine conversation.

2. Do a couples' painting session. Whether you're artistic or not, this is a unique and inexpensive date night! Grab a bottle of wine and stop by Pinot's Palette for a night of fun. You also get to keep your painting as a souvenir of the wonderful time you had together.

3. Go on a jog downtown. Enjoy the beauty of your town! I love running by timeless homes and new local businesses in the area. It's a great conversation starter and it's great for your health!

4. Have a movie marathon. Are you both Harry Potter fans? Why not make a movie marathon out of a shared interest! Grab some popcorn and chat about your favorite actors in between movies!

5. Grab dinner at an ethnic restaurant. Swing by Thai Taste or Tandoori and enjoy an authentic plate of food! You can imagine you're in another country and talk about traveling interests while enjoying great food.

6. Cheer on a sporting team. With your student ID, you can watch your school's team play for free! No matter the season, there is always a sport to watch. This is a great opportunity to cheer on your school and get to meet other people in the stands.

7. Plan a trip together. I am addicted to planning trips. As a college student, I can't drop everything and head to Europe. But it's nice to know that one day I can! Spend time together talking about your #1 bucket list travel destination. Plan your itinerary! Would you rather relax or do something adventurous? Just because you don't have the budget to travel now as a student doesn't mean that you never will.

Going to a five star restaurant on Friday night isn't the norm in college dating. Embrace what you have and enjoy your time together, regardless of where it is.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
