1. Dancing improves a person's brain function in so many different ways.
There have been studies done that prove being a dancer increases your cognitive and cerebral thought processes with muscle memory and equilibrium!
2. Positive self-image.
With being a dancer, especially in the competition world, there is always going to be someone who is better than you. More flexible, better turnout, stronger, prettier, more trained than you. Dancers have the ability to like themselves without comparing them to others. They realize that being themselves is the most important thing they can be.
3. They don't let bad days get to them.
Dancers know that not every performance is going to be perfect, but they work WITH their imperfections rather than against them.
4. Motivation.
Dancers have to dig really deep to find motivation within themselves. Especially on the days where they just may not be feeling it. It takes a lot of self-motivation and commitment to be a dancer.
5. Dedication.
Being a dancer is not always fun and games. You have to miss out on a lot of extracurricular activities like football games and stuff on the weekends, but dancers know that being dedicated to something that they are passionate about is totally worth it!
6. Dealing with fear in a healthy way.
Going on stage and being critiqued by a panel of judges is not easy. Dancers have a way of overcoming their fears by trying a new step or trick and finding the positive aspect of facing their fears.
7. Learning how to lose.
Dancers know that they aren't always going to win. They take their mistakes and turn them into a "What can I do better next time?" instead of self-pity.
8. Always being watched by younger dancers.
Dancers' learn how to be a role model for younger students. That means having to make the right decisions and making good choices inside and outside of the studio.
9. Smiling through criticism.
Taking criticism is hard. A dancer knows how to take criticism constructively with a smile on their face, and to say thank you for the critiques!
10. Being passionate.
Being passionate about dance can make a dancer truly understand how it is to love something whole-heartedly. Having a strong passion for something means you push through the bad days so you can experience the really good days!
