Richmond is the perfect place for "foodies." Whether you consider Richmond to be the Short Pump area, The Fan, Carytown, or Downtown, you'll never have difficulty finding a place to eat. The hard part comes when you have to actually narrow down all of the fantastic places in Richmond to eat and actually select where to have your meal. As I am a Richmond native, I have had a lot of time exploring the wide array of places to eat in the past 20 years. I can resoundingly say that The Daily Kitchen & Bar located in Carytown is by far one of my top five favorites.
The Daily is centered in the bustling and popular area by the name Carytown in Richmond. Conveniently located about 10 minutes off the campus of the University of Richmond, it became a popular brunch and lunch spot for me and my close friends.
The first aspect of The Daily that drew me in was the aesthetically appealing atmosphere. The spacious patio is the first part that patrons of the restaurant notice. It's the perfect place to sit during the fall or spring when the Richmond weather is mild. If you choose not to sit outside, you won't be disappointed with the inside atmosphere either. With light grey and bright green tones, your experience is sure to be relaxing and enjoyable.
My very first brunch visit to The Daily I chose the Avocado, Tomato, and White Cheddar Omelette which was accompanied by hash browns. The omelette was light and satisfying and the hash browns were crispy and well seasoned. It was unquestionably one of the best and most unique omelettes I have had and was the perfect portioned size for a nice brunch and left me feeling full all day.
For my dinner on other visits, I have often chosen the Crab Cake Sandwich with a side Caesar salad. The crab cake is full of lump crab pieces and is topped with lemon cracked pepper aioli that complements it perfectly. If you're not in the mood for a salad, they offer other tasty sides such as Maple Roasted Sweet Potatoes, Grilled Asparagus, Chickpea Salad among many others.
Although I do not personally have any nutritional or dietary restrictions, The Daily is very accommodating for any sort of allergies or intolerances. At my last trip to The Daily, I even chose to try the Vegan Vanilla Coconut Ice Cream which was a light and refreshing dessert. You can easily find vegan, gluten, nut free, and paleo options on their menu, which makes it the perfect place to bring a large group of friends as everyone can find something they both like and satisfies their nutrition restrictions.
I would encourage everyone to visit The Daily during their favorite meal of the day. With fantastic brunch, lunch, and dinner options, you'll never leave disappointed. Feel free to check out their vast menu and even make a reservation at http://thedailykitchenandbar.com/.
