I am unique in that I decided to attend college in the same city in which I grew up. Richmond has always been my home, and as I have grown older and more mature, I have come to appreciate more and more all of the amazing things Richmond has to offer. I am the oldest in my family with a younger sister in high school and a younger brother who is in elementary school. We are all spread out relatively far in age, but this just makes being the oldest even more fun. During my time in high school, I was primarily involved with a profound community service engagement at my high school. As a part of the 50 member committee, I helped plan our annual 27-hour marathon dance, benefiting twelve Richmond non-profit organizations each March. Having raised well over one million dollars in the past 10 years, students at my high school raised over $223,000 just this past weekend. Not only did I discover my love for event planning and civic engagement, but I also learned how well I work with others. Arriving at Richmond, I knew I wanted to be involved with the Office of Admissions and immediately applied to be a tour guide, which I now am as I just have completed my rigorous training. It is extremely rewarding to be a part of others' college admissions process and getting to know prospective students. Greek life has also become an important aspect of college life for me and it has been an outlet for making new friends and pursing leadership roles. My passion for writing began during my 11th grade AP English Composition class. My teacher was splendid, and we got along incredibly well. I will always attest my writing skills to her, and I truly believe I learned the most not only about language, but life in general from her. Since then, I have always enjoyed my writing based classes and I hope to be able to write more creatively in an outlet such as this.
