7 Ways to Cure Boredom While Social Distancing
Start writing a post

Who knows how long we'll be stuck inside our houses? Instead of going stir-crazy, let's figure out how to have fun during a pandemic!

Create a vision board on Pinterest.

This time in the world can be scary for many. I recommend relieving some anxiety by creating a vision board on Pinterest. Enter into your imagination and think about what you want your dream life to look like. Do you have a specific profession you're pursuing? Any health goals? Search up your objectives and save pictures and tips to your vision board. Once you're done, you can feel a sense of pride and optimism scrolling through your future life.

Get creative!

Whether you like to engage in artistic expression or would like to try it, this tip could take your mind off of your anxiety or chronic boredom. Get out your 64-pack of crayons and draw without judgement. Paint a self-portrait! Don't know what to make? Search on Pinterest for ideas! Or are you a musician? Write a song! Dive into your creative intuitions and be mindful of the moment. Your artistic creation will set you free from boredom.

Clean your space!

Don't just sweep your mess underneath your bed. DEEP CLEAN! You have the time. Maybe you'll discover a long-lost shirt or a macaroni picture you made in elementary school. In addition, cleaning frees up space in your mind. So rearrange your furniture or get rid of some clothes. Since you'll be spending a lot of time in your room, cleaning or rearranging your space will be refreshing.

Hang out with your friends!

Okay, obviously you can't physically hang out with your friends but you can spend time with them virtually. Hop on a video chatting platform like Facetime, Oovoo, or, dare I say, Zoom. You can even invite your friends to play popular games online like Cards Against Humanity, Monopoly, Uno, various card games, and more. Ever heard of Flockdraw? You and your friends can digitally draw on the site and guess each other's picture. Or how about Netflix Party? This Google Chrome extension allows you and your friends to watch Netflix movies and shows together, experiencing entertainment in real time together.

Start a new series.

Speaking of Netflix, how about curing your boredom with a new show? Delving into the plot line and characters of a series will take your mind off of the fact that you're stuck in the house. I recommend Netflix's "Sex Education", "You", or "The Society." Or if you're in for a long haul, I recommend "The Vampire Diaries", "Reign", or "Gossip Girl."

Do the thing you've been putting off!

I can't tell you exactly what this is, but you know what I'm talking about. Now that you have more time on your hands, do that thing you've been putting to the side. This could be a tedious errand or passion of yours and now that you are social distancing, you have the opportunity to complete it.

Listen to a new podcast.

Podcasts are perfect for exploring your interests in a non-commited way. You can listen while you're in the shower, cleaning, or just doing something that doesn't require too much attention. Even so, podcasts can offer more joy to your day as you learn more about topics you're interested in. Some of my favorites are "Say More", "The Bechdal Cast", "Disney Story Origins", and "Oprah's SuperSoul Conversations." If these podcasts don't pertain to your interests, there are many more available on basically any topic.

Whether you're anxious about the Coronavirus or bored because of social distancing, I hope these ideas help to brighten your day.

Separation Anxiety in Pets

Separation anxiety in pets is a real thing and recognizing the warning signs is important.

213768

Since March, Covid-19 required most of the world to quarantine in their homes. Majority of people ended up working from home for nearly five months. This meant pet owners were constantly with their pets giving them attention, playing with them, letting them out etc. Therefore, when the world slowly started to open up again and pet owners began returning to normal life work schedules away from the home, pet owners noticed a difference in the way their pet acted. Many pets develop separation anxiety especially during this crazy time when majority people were stuck inside barely leaving the house.

If there's one thing I'm absolutely terrible at, it's giving myself grace. I'm easily my own worst critic in almost everything that I do. I'm a raging perfectionist, and I have unrealistic expectations for myself at times. I can remember simple errors I made years ago, and I still hold on to them. The biggest thing I'm trying to work on is giving myself grace. I've realized that when I don't give myself grace, I miss out on being human. Even more so, I've realized that in order to give grace to others, I need to learn how to give grace to myself, too. So often, we let perfection dominate our lives without even realizing it. I've decided to change that in my own life, and I hope you'll consider doing that, too. Grace begins with a simple awareness of who we are and who we're becoming. As you read through these five affirmations and ways to give yourself grace, I hope you'll take them in. Read them. Write them down. Think about them. Most of all, I hope you'll use them to encourage yourself and realize that you are never alone and you always have the power to change your story.

Were all teenagers and twenty-somethings bingeing the latest "To All The Boys: Always and Forever" last night with all of their friends on their basement TV? Nope? Just me? Oh, how I doubt that.

I have been excited for this movie ever since I saw the NYC skyline in the trailer that was released earlier this year. I'm a sucker for any movie or TV show that takes place in the Big Apple.

Every single one of us has a story.

I don't say that to be cliché. I don't say that to give you a false sense of encouragement. I say that to be honest. I say that to be real.
