The Theme Music of Your Footsteps

Life isn't a movie, but it can sound like one.

The best part about imagination is that you can make any normal, day-to-day situation incredibly more entertaining (to yourself, at least) by using it. You can change the way an entire situation looks by doing something simple, like adding your own theme music. Be it sad, happy or absolutely mind-numbing, any moment has a song that can make it better when played in the background. Here, I'll talk you through a day in the life of your average person, but with theme music.

(clicking on the links will lead to the music videos on Youtube).

Mornings

Starting the day can be one of the best or one of the worst parts, depending on what kind of person you are.

If you're a morning person, your theme song may be something like "The Circle of Life" from the Lion King.

You are Simba. The sun shines on you as the world greets you.

If you're definitely not a morning person, you probably seem more along the lines of Scar during "Be Prepared" from the same movie.

The world interrupted your sleep and it's everyone's fault until you wake up.

Going to work/school

It's early in the morning and you have to give your all to something for hours straight. The route there sounds like it should have the song "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" by Green Day playing at all times.

Directions to work: Left on Responsibilities St., right on Stress Ave. and merge into Broken Dreams Blvd.

Running into people

You're bound to meet some people in your life who you really don't like -- people who you just want to keep out of your life. In those moments, the voices of Demi Lovato and Cher Lloyd from the song "Really Don't Care" are a great sound to have playing on loop in your head as you walk away from that person's stupid face.

Why, yes, this is my caring face.

But then there are also people you might just really not want to actually have contact with at that moment. Examples include the person you owe money to, that one person that spits a lot when they talk and Kanye West. To avoid contact, switch on the theme song from Mission Impossible and do whatever you have to do to sneak away.

When you don't want to take the elevator because Becky's in there.

Hopefully, though, there are still people in this life that you like. When you see and get to hang out with your friends, the world is a wonderful place. There's no song that describes friendship better than the "F.U.N song" from Spongebob.

FUN can be an acronym for countless activities. You just have to find them.

If you're lucky, you might have a significant other. If you're even luckier, you will be able to see them during the day. There are countless love songs to tell of the love you feel when you catch their eyes, but "Can't Help Falling in Love", originally by Elvis Presley, is one of the greatest love songs that could pass through your experience during any given day.

When you're ten minutes into Jailhouse Rock and chill and he gives you this look.

Side note: it's earned some more popularity recently, unearthing some great covers by Twenty One Pilots and a group called Hearts and Colors.

However, sometimes you may also have the misfortune to run into the one who got away, or maybe just their name or even the smell of something that reminded you of them. Memories can be vicious like that. For those moments, it can seem that a song like "Let It Go" by James Bay is just playing while a black and white filter gets set over your heart.

"No, I'm not crying. Leave me and my hat alone in the dark."

Leaving Work

But it's not all bad! Work/school ends for the day and you get to go home! It feels like a warm-breeze-on-a-spring-day kind of free feeling. At this moment in movies, songs like "Cake by the Ocean" by DNCE play over everyone going back to their actual lives.

You've earned this type of freedom.

At Home

You've reached the end of the day and it's time to relax. You've gone through the stress for the day, so you can now finally find you paradise. One of the most calming, fluffy-feeling-inducing songs is "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole and it also has a ukulele (even better, right?). It's the perfect song to play in your head while wrapped in a blanket or laying in a hammock.

Even laying down on concrete feels like a breezy field after getting home.

This isn't by any means an exhaustive list. Any experience can be felt deeper when there's music playing to back it up. Think of it as making a movie out of your life just for you to watch. Plus, if you want to cast yourself as Chris Hemsworth, you have that power, so go for it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
