Every year I have a crisis around this time.
October is the official month of Fall, Football, Pumpkins, and Halloween - otherwise known as the best day ever - or Laura's favorite holiday.
I mean candy, games, and costumes! What more could you ask for? We still have a few days to go, but my panic set in weeks ago about "what am I going to be," two weeks is very little time for proper costume planning! Many moons ago, there was a time when I knew what I would be for Halloween on October 1st of the previous year. Unfortunately, busy schedules, work, college and all that jazz have since gotten in the way (rude right?).
Here I am, though, costume list in hand, deciding what to be, and desperate to spend as little money as possible. (Only because I am in college and poor, adult Halloween will be all out).
My love for Halloween is shared by many, just check any of the recent Pinterest pins or any store that started putting out Halloween items as soon as back-to-school season passed. Halloween is a beloved past time for many which is why I always feel I need to put the thought towards it that it deserves. Thought includes, originality, creativity, comfort, fun, relevance; aka a lot. Storytime: in kindergarten - I loved Halloween even then - I was beyond excited to be Snow White. But tragedy struck, I told one person my costume in the line we walked in and 2000 was suddenly the year of Snow White, my school was overflowing; ok that was a lie, but like five other girls were also Snow White, that's four too many. This is a prime example of why picking a costume involves so much responsibility. It is one night, meaning one costume when there is a sea of potentials!
As the 31st fast approaches, and I narrow down my top five list to one winner, I wish you all luck in taking on this mission.
So be whoever you want. Be whoever you are. Be whoever you are not. But have fun.
