We all have private thoughts that we really don't want anyone to hear. Ever. Thoughts about men, women, close friends driving us crazy and babies we could care less about. We aren't proud of it but it happens.

Recently, over hot plates of bar food and mixed drinks at Houlihan's, my best friend and I were celebrating the last night before college classes started. We were also gossiping about my most recent breakup with a guy. Recently being single has one of two effects on me, emotionally distraught with an inability to ever smile again and cynically amused by everything and the uncontrollable urge to smile and laugh. This breakup had me on more of the cynical side so, laughing and drinking it was.

"Is it crazy that for every guy I meet or just SEE in a room "he might be the guy I marry" pops into my head?"

Only with your best friend is that safe to say.

How many times do you have a completely honest thought follow it with the thought "No one can ever know this or they would think I'm crazy"? There are only a few people you will meet in your life who you can fully expose your crazy to and they will laugh and show you theirs.

So heres a small helping of crazy

#1 (About every guy that walks in the room) "Mabye thats the total stranger who will end up being my husband?"

Fun fact: Everyone's significant other started off as a complete stranger once. You aren't crazy, you are optimistic and thats a good thing!

#2 "Why doesn't he call me? Why doesn't he give me flowers? Why doesn't he pay attention to me? Why doesn't he do what all those memes show a guy doing? I am so needy, no one will put up with me!"

Of course you are needy, you have NEEDS! No, I don't just mean sex. Different things in life make different people happy. The point is to find someone who makes it a priority to do the things that fulfill those needs. That goes for you too. Because they need you to fill their needs just as much, despite if they are different.

Theres plenty more. In fact, I'm sure theres a ton that I myself have never thought of. But you are just going to have to wait for the next article to find out if there are other crazies out there just like you. If you are brave enough the show your crazy, send a message to TheModernDayMarilyn@yahoo.com and see if your confession is in the next feature!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
