Simple living sounds straightforward; yet, it seems so many of us complicate life by getting too caught up in our own difficulties. Life is not complicated, we are. Once we choose to leave behind feelings of past and future worries our lives become more balanced. Roadblocks come and go but the key to a simple life is to be mindful, and savor every moment by focusing on what is important instead of anticipating what's to come. A simple way of living gives us the freedom from those responsibilities, commitments, and people which prevent us from from having peace of mind. If you want to feel love, be loving. If you want friends, reach out to people and be friendly. It works. It's really this simple
Start communicating clearly. You can't expect people to be able to guess what you're thinking and how you feel. Missing somebody?..Call. Wanna meet up?..Invite. Speak what you want, or potentially become one of the many questioning “What if” moments later on in life. You can't be everything to everyone, so don't focus on trying to please everyone - it's impossible. But by being yourself and narrowing your focus on the important people in your life, the need to please everyone will fade away. People are in put into our lives for a reason, so if you miss someone, reach out to them. Why be the person waiting for others to reach out to you instead of being productive and making solid plans? When we choose to embrace asking questions and understand ourselves enough to be heard in this way, we build better connections with people. It all starts with you; the more you reach out to people, the more people reach out to you.
Change won’t happen in your life until you speak up about what's bothering you. Don’t like something?.. Say it. Author Bryant McGill says, “Change comes from confrontation. You have to be confronted or confront yourself.” Our words often resisted at times when they need to be heard the most. So you don't like something, make your feelings known so it can be changed. Asking is the only real way to get what you want. Want something?.. Ask for it. There's really nothing to lose. You already have the no, so take the risk of getting a yes by asking the right questions. Some people worry about asking for help because they assume that others will say no, but we tend to underestimate how likely other people are to help us. Ultimately, if you're afraid to say what you want, then you won't get what you want.
A simple life is a personal decision. But once a person embraces simplicity, life becomes less complicated. Living simply improves our happiness, productivity and satisfaction with lower stress levels. We have this one life; keep it simple.
