Growing up, The Grinch was one of my all-time favorite holiday movies. (Fun fact: Did you know the actress who played Cindy Loo Who is now a kick-butt lead singer in a rock band? You go Taylor.) Now, I feel like I relate to the fuzzy green grump on a deeply spiritual level.

1. Looking around your classes the start of each semester

I'm surrounded by peasants.

2. Procrastinating everything ever

I'll start at five.

3. Learning there won't be a curve

Excuse me? Rude.

4. Eating when you have nothing else to do

I'm not even hungry right now but I'm still eating.

5. Still procrastinating

Just a little longer, let me check Instagram one last time.

6. Tell yourself you'll try to be fit

To work off all of that bored eating.

7. When no one will come get food with you

I'm independent, I don't need no one.

8. When you and your friend both tank that test you didn't study for

10. Laying in bed contemplating if college is even worth it

Is it too late to drop out?

11. When your friend asks you to go out but you know you probably shouldn't.

My bank account and my planner say no.

12. Trying on multiple outfits anyway

I'll just humor them it's fine.

13. Not finding an outfit you like enough

I have NO cute clothes.

14. Telling yourself you deserve a night out

It's just one night, I deserve this.

15. But then running into your ex later that night

SHOTS ON ME Y'ALL!

16. Confessing your love to all your friends the more you drink

I just love you guys so much.

17. When the shots and your feelings hit at the same time

I HATE THEM! JK I LOVE THEM, I NEED MORE BOOZE.

18. When your roommate comes in to wake you up the next morning

Go. Away.

19. Listening to your friends talk about the cringe-worthy things you did the night before

Please stop talking, I'd rather not know.

20. Coping with your hungover regret

21. Determining you're never going out ever again

At least not until next week that is.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
