In honor of me being sick right now and for also the first time being sick when I return home for break since starting college, I thought I would write about what it is like to be sick in college. We all already know that being sick in general sucks for everyone. It doesn't matter whether you have a head or allergy cold or even pneumonia. The pains and aches that come with being sick also mean that for the next couple of days or even a couple of weeks depending on the severity. But I think that there is something also find of refreshing about being sick. It seriously reminds you that the sense you lose while you are sick shouldn't be taken for granted (trust that was a lot of sarcasm).
1. When you first start to get those symptoms and you freak out knowing it's only Sunday
2. The minute you start realizing all you want to do is lay in bed because EVERYTHING HURTS SOMEHOW
3. Having to settle for Instant Ramen instead of homemade
4. Knowing that the dining hall is only going to make you feel worse
5. Only sleeping a couple hours rather than the 8 recommended when sick
I mean come on, all that homework and studying isn't going to finish itself.
6. Knowing that mom won't be around to hug you tightly when you need it
Let's be honest, mom's can fix just about everything.
7. Not having anyone to really take care of you when you know that's all you really need
Seriously, we all under estimate what having a person to take care of you can actually do for you not only when you are sick but whenever you are down
8. Trying to decide if skipping class is better for your health or infecting everyone is better for your GPA
9. Having to leave the comfort of your room for all necessities, including the bathroom in some cases.
10. Just needing peace and quiet but instead being met with loud dorm rooms and even louder roommates
11. Not being able to snuggle with your pets
You can't really snuggle with a goldfish now can you?
12. It's no longer a joy to have a sick day.
It's more of a hassle and a serious pain in your butt
