The spring semester is right around the corner! In order to have a successful semester, it is time to gather what is going to be important in surviving the semester. I have taken it upon myself to gather a list of lifestyle improvements to help the average college student survive their spring semester!
1. A Comfortable Ecosystem
It is important to always have a rejuvenation station. In college, most people use their rooms as their place to think, work, and recharge their energy for a new day. It is important to keep your room personalized and comfortable. A bedroom/ personal space says a lot about a person and it is important to always have something that is your own. In college, a lot of things are shared or just for you to borrow; in taking ownership of your room and spreading your own energy throughout, this can make for a more healthy living space. If ideas for your space don't come to you right away or you cannot think about what you like, consider Feng Shui as a starting point to put together a harmonious personal space.
2. Dry-Erase Board
Having a bedroom isn't all just about being in your own world, you must incorporate your real school life as well, a good way to do this is to incorporate a dry-erase board to help remember school assignments and errands. This is a great organizational tool, so even when you get lost in your put-together room this is your small reminder that you need to get out sometime and take care of the day's duties.
3. Semesterly Talisman
This is a tip that I learned from a writer; when he would work on a different writing piece, he would always keep a talisman in his pocket as a token to keep a project he was working on in the back of his mind. This is something that I am going to start doing as I get deeper into my major and minor classes. This little inspiration trick is perfect for any major or goal-oriented activity. Whether you have to figure out how to build your robot by next Friday or study and do well on that next organic chemistry test, it is good to keep that talisman as a reminder to be your own cheerleader.
4. Relaxing Activity
Out of all the ideas I have listed so far, having a relaxing activity is by far one of the most important on this list. Whether it is painting, exercising, blogging, or building a hard drive, having a hobby expands one's interests and skills. Sleeping and staring at walls in your spare time gets old. This also can serve as a brain exercise that could even increase your GPA and work ethic when it comes to doing school work.
5. University Involvement
University involvement is one of the most underrated things that a student can do with their time. If solitary activities aren't your thing, get out and join a club! Joining a club can even help you meet people in your major; everyone knows how important networking is.
I hope this article has given you some ideas on how to improve your lifestyle while in college. Welcome back to university life and have a prosperous spring semester!
