Let's face it, college is stressful. No matter how easygoing you are, sometimes classes, work, and your personal life just seem to all go wrong at the same time and you get stressed out. So while studying late in the library for that test at 8 a.m., keep these 5 stress relieving tips in mind to keep yourself sane.

1. Avoid procrastination

I know. I know. Sometimes procrastination can't be helped, especially in college. However, if you know that huge project for that class you hate is due in two weeks, try and get a jump start on it early. That way, you can do it little by little over time, not get stressed out, and have it done on time. Also, you could finish the project early and not have to do multiple all-nighters the week that it's due.

2. Call your mom

Nobody knows you better than your mom. Whether it's just asking her how her day is going to take your mind off your work or telling her about your work and asking her thoughts, talking to your mom is a great way to relieve your stress. Plus it'll make her smile when you call.

3. Look at pictures of cute dogs

Tiny dogs, big dogs, fluffy dogs, dogs with sweaters on, old dogs, young dogs, it doesn't matter. Whether its a late night in the library, an early morning class, or the longest shift ever at work, taking a minute to look at cute dog pictures online is a quick and easy way to instantly brighten your mood.

4. Go outside

Hug a tree. Wiggle your toes in the grass. Throw a frisbee. Going outside and breathing in the fresh air even just for a few minutes really clears your head.

5. Remember this is all temporary

Sometimes you can get so wrapped up in your classes that it's hard to realize that someday that D+ in chemistry won't matter. That doesn't mean you shouldn't try as hard, but keep that in mind.

At the end of the day, the only person that ultimately stresses you out the most is yourself. Sometimes it's hard to break out of the cycle of endless stress in college, especially when you're taking difficult classes or working. But incorporating these 5 tips into your daily routine can really save you from those long nights in the library!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
