A cup of coffee anytime of day saves us all in our endless days of work, our long days of school, and everything else we have going on; but what happens when it isn't enough?
Sometimes we have to stop and smell the coffee, and take the time each day to appreciate what life has to offer.
Often with each passing day we get in a routine that we are so wrapped up in that we forget to just stop and look at the world around us. We always make excuses saying "I don't have the time" or "I'm too busy" but I am here to tell you there are little things you can change if you're wanting more to life then just your everyday routine.
Making time is the key. Even if it is only five minutes, just go outside and take the world in. If it is too cold and snowing, just look out your window. Here are some ways to wake up, and smell the coffee.
1. Wake up a little earlier. Take at least five minutes every morning to breathe in fresh air and notice the stunning world around you. Whether the leaves are falling, the snow is turning to ice, it's pouring rain or the sun is shining, the world around us makes us who we are.
2. When the sun is going down, turn off your electronics. Sit outside to relax instead of watching Netflix. Pick up that book you've been wanting to read for months, and read it. Turn on music and watch the world changing around you. Sitting outside while doing your work can help your body relax more. Sometimes if we are stuck in a library, or in a work space we can lose track of thought or feel that constant stress. Sitting outside somehow makes you, and your mind, feel free.
3. Plant a garden. Yeah.. I said it: plant a garden. Growing something from our earth, and taking care of it to keep it alive is something that adds to our world. Now, it doesn't have to be the world's biggest garden, especially if you're one to believe that you personally are a plant killer (I fondly consider myself one). You can start with a little cactus, or succulent. If you are feeling that you can take on a bigger job and have the space for it- plant the biggest garden you can.
As I sit here and write this I realize I need to take my own advice; Frequently we forget to "Stop, and smell the coffee" because our lives get so busy that we don't know how to control them. If our soul is tired, our body is tired. A cup of coffee can only do so much, so making small changes to wake up our mind, or put our mind to sleep can help with not getting stuck in our everyday routine. With each passing day, don't just let it pass by without doing at least one thing for you, and don't let life surpass you. Wake up, and drink the coffee.
