I never thought that I could be so close to a coach, but here we are, and I look at you as my family. Someone that I would do literally anything for. It is the least I could do for all of the things that you did for me.

Thank you for giving me the chance to show you what I am capable of. I never thought in a million years that I would be able to be a cheerleader, and yet, there you were to make my dreams come true. That was only the start of our amazing relationship.

High school can be the hardest part of someone's life, especially a girl's life. We're constantly worried that we're being judged by people, and it can create an environment that is not healthy for growing good self-confidence. But you gave me a uniform, that I used to say had magic powers, and suddenly I carried myself better.

Now, I know the uniform didn't really have magic powers. It was all you. You gave me that confidence just by giving me a uniform to wear on every Friday in the fall, and I cannot thank you enough for that.

Thank you for killing me during the summer with conditioning because it made me a stronger person. Knowing that I could finish suicides first really had me on a high horse. I only really finished those early because you bribed us with no more conditioning if we finished first, but hey, it got me going.

By giving me the opportunity to cheer, I was able to meet new people that would become my friends. I would have never even thought I could be friends with some of the people I am friends with, and that is because of you.

You gave me the opportunity to meet my best friend. One of the greatest people in my life, and it is all because of you.

You made me a leader. Never would I have believed that I could be captain of my high school cheerleading squad, but I was. Because you showed me what a leader should be, I was able to reciprocate those qualities and lead a team to victory.

And just thank you. For everything. For the late practices. For the early practices. For the countless amount of T-shirts. For third in the state. For the love and support. I love you!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
