The 80s are often recognized as having the best classic movies to watch. However, people often forget that the 70s are also home of some blockbuster classics just as worthy of attention. So here’s to all the overlooked best movies of the 70s:

1. "Jaws" (1975)

The summer blockbuster that made people afraid to swim in the ocean -- "Jaws." Directed by Steven Spielberg at only 27 years old, "Jaws" was one of his first big hits. Spielberg teamed up with composer John Williams for one of the first times of many to create an outstanding theme song which can be credited for a portion of the success of "Jaws." The terrifying motion picture features a series of shark attacks on the island of Amity, believed to be caused by a great white shark. The new mayor of Amity sets out to put an end to the attacks and hopes to restore safety to the island to draw back tourists for the Fourth of July weekend.

2. "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" (1977)

In this science fiction film starring Richard Dreyfuss, the lives of many change when an unidentified flying object is spotted. After many strange occurrences, the world will discover the results of the encounters of aliens.

3. "Saturday Night Fever" (1977)

Starring the dreamy John Travolta, "Saturday Night Fever" will have you grooving to the beat. While training for a big dance competition, Travolta's character finds himself in many sticky situations -- and of course, the film features many classic tunes from the Bee Gees.

Five golden tickets are hidden in Wonka bars dispersed around the world -- those lucky enough to find a golden ticket are granted a day tour of Willy Wonka's mysterious, yet fascinating chocolate factory. The movie revolves around a poor boy named Charlie, who was the last lucky winner of a golden ticket, and encounters all kinds of strange adventures inside the chocolate factory.

6. "American Graffiti" (1973)

What's up Asshat,

I've composed a list of things that I wish upon you, and they're harsh and cruel. These things are things that I wouldn't wish upon my worst of enemies, not even that Starbuck's barista who always screws up my order, not even him. You fall into a whole other category of hate. You surpass Starbucks barista. Congratulations, I'm actually a pretty nice person, making you worthy of every single bit of torture I wish upon you. What are these things I wish upon you you might ask?
