To All Christmas Lovers

It is now November. And you all know what that means! We're another month closer to the best month of the year. Which is obviously December because Christmas is obviously the best. It's time to get excited people. And here's what we should all be getting super excited about:

Christmas music:

As Buddy the Elf says, "the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear." So get to it! Crank those tunes up, turn in your Pandora radio station or Spotify playlist. Whether it's Elvis's Christmas album, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snow Man, Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree, or even the classic Christmas church hymns, it's about time to start listening to it all 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!

Christmas decorations:
The trees, the ornaments, the wreaths, the lights, everything!! I admit that I am just a tad bit obsessed with Christmas and all things associated with it. So if you want to go absolutely overboard on decorations, by all means go for it!!! However, make sure that if you're living with someone, they aren't one of the "absolutely not until after thanksgiving" types (I still love you roomie). But even if you find yourself in that situation, you can still be festive by taking notes in Christmas colors, listening to the music on your own, or decoration just your room.

Christmas movies:
There's just so many!! I'm partial to Elf and just about all Hallmark Christmas movies. I mean really. Who doesn't obsess over a decently predictable love story wrapped around the holidays! There’s also the classics of It’s a Wonderful Life, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and about a million other ones. With Christmas comes ABC Family’s 25 Days of Christmas, Hallmarks Countdown to Christmas, and many, many more. So grab that cozy blanket, forget about your responsibilities (just for a bit) and get totally absorbed into that wintery love story. But maybe not so emotionally invested that you start crying. That could be bad.

Spending time with family:

If your family is anything like mine, you all get together at some point around the holidays. Sometimes that’s the first time you’ve seen certain family members since the last family Christmas gathering. There will be the loud crazy chaos, tons of little ones running around, and about a million questions of “how’s school going?” “do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend?” “where’s your brother/sister?” or something similar. There will be the looking at cousins and silently saying “help,” there will be those family members who make fun of you the whole time, but above all, it will be a room/house full of love. And as cliché as that sounds, we all know it is true. There may be some grudges, there may be some drama, but there will always be love.

But above all, I believe the greatest thing about Christmas is Christ. Without Him there would be no Christmas. A lot of times we get so wrapped up in the gifts or the meals or the family events that we forget the true meaning of the season. If you believe, let us all remember to keep Christ in Christmas.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
