Christmas Characters Go Greek

Ever wonder what sorority Cindy Lou Who would be in?

Christmas Characters Go Greek

There are hundreds of Christmas movies we have all come to love and make part of our annual Christmas traditions. From National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation to Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, we can all find joy in these classic movies that help get us in the Christmas spirit. As I flipped through channels on TV, the other day, I realized how many Christmas movies are playing, along with the number of hilarious and eccentric characters they portray. That got me thinking: what if our favorite Christmas characters joined a sorority or fraternity? Which one would be the best fit for them?

Ralphie, A Christmas Story: Alpha Tau Omega.

Ralphie would be an ATO if he were to join a fraternity. Ralphie is determined to get his Red Rider BB Gun. He's persuaded to doing many things he does not want to do, like dressing up in a pink bunny outfit. However, he does these things for the people who love him and has a good spirit. Ralphie also knows how to have a good time with his friends and celebrate Christmas fun. ATO guys are polite and fun-loving, just like Ralphie.

Aunt Bethany, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation: Alpha Gamma Delta.

Although Aunt Bethany is a bit confused, she is a very sweet and thoughtful lady who comes bearing gifts and asking how other family members are doing. "Is Rusty still in the Navy?" Alpha Gams are funny and very sweet, just like Aunt Bethany. She is a respected member of the family and tries her best to participate in all the Christmas traditions. And, come on -- she is freaking hilarious.

Buddy, Elf: Phi Gamma Delta.

Buddy, the Elf, would most definitely be a Phi Gam. Phi Gam is very involved in their philanthropies and helping out the community, just like Buddy is always doing his best to help people out. I just wish the Phi Gams would dress up in the elf costume and eat some syrup/candy spaghetti for their Christmas cocktail party one year.

Amanda Woods, The Holiday: Zeta Tau Alpha.

Amanda Woods is driven, successful and well put-together. She also gets to make out with Jude Law.

Fred Claus: Pi Kappa Phi.

Fred Claus has a little trouble running the North Pole, but manages with Santa by his side. He would be a Pi Kapp because he is outgoing and helpful when you need him.

Mrs. Claus: Kappa Delta.

KD was the first sorority on campus. Mrs. Claus is the first lady of the Christmas figurehead, Santa Claus -- duh.

Santa Claus: Delta Kappa Epsilon.

DKE was the first fraternity on campus. Behold, Santa Claus.

Jovie, Elf: Pi Beta Phi.

Jovie is sweet, but not too trusting of people right off the bat -- she's very careful with relationships. She has a great singing voice and would be great in Pi Phi's always awesome rush skit.

Cousin Eddie, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation: Sigma Alpha Epsilon.

There really are no words. Cousin Eddie is the life of the party. Between the sh***er being full and the white pleather jackets, he's got it going on.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: Kappa Kappa Gamma.

Although Rudolph is a boy, he is an adorable and absolute classic Christmas character who is only suited to be paired with a sorority. Rudolph is bright and always making friends, much like Kappas.

Clark W. Griswold, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation: Kappa Alpha Order.Cousin Eddie's BFF, Clark W -- much like the KAs and SAEs -- are friends here at Alabama. Clark is determined to find the most perfect Christmas tree and give his family the best Christmas ever, just like the KAs are determined to hunt and kill a 12 point buck deer. Merry Christmas.

Cindy Lou Who, How the Grinch Stole Christmas: Phi Mu.

Cindy Lou Who is adorable, blonde, and wears a lot of pink. She is very sweet to everyone she meets, just like Phi Mus. She would make a great addition to their annual homecoming dance.

Willie, Bad Santa: Kappa Sigma.

Willie is a complicated character, but he likes to party.

Juliet, Love Actually: Delta Delta Delta

Juliet has many admirers and treats those admirers with respect. And I mean. hey, it's Keira Knightley.

Kevin McCallister, Home Alone: Pi Kappa Alpha.

Kevin is always up to mischief, but does it for the greater good. He is smart, witty and takes really great care of himself, considering he is an eight year old.

Kate, Four Christmases: Chi Omega.

Kate has her life completely together and is very responsible. She is also married to the funniest man alive in this movie -- Vince Vaughn.

No bid: The Grinch.

Sorry, dude. Merry Christmas!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
