I'm A Christian, But...

We, on earth, do not and can not fully understand all that God is.

I'm A Christian, But...
Victoria Renfroe

There is so much more to religion than a book and a church service. Christianity is unique in the way that it's a real relationship. There is nothing simply normal about God's love. Our relationship with God is something that we, as human beings, can not easily understand. His degree of love, forgiveness, passion, sincerity, etc. - is an unfathomable blessing.

I'm a Christian, but I do not understand why God loves us unconditionally after all of our mistakes, disrespect, and failure. We, as humans, will continue to fail while He is incapable of failure. In just one chapter in Psalm, "God's love never fails" is repeated 26 times. Psalm 136 is an incredible read. Do you think He was trying to tell us something here? This statement is repeated over and over to drill into our heads that God will not fail. Ever.

I'm a Christian, but I can't wrap my mind around the fact that you can "mess up 7 times, and He forgives 8 times" is a true statement. It is absolutely insane that we are so blessed to serve someone who sees our hearts, and not just hears our words. No matter what, our genuine apologies will always be accepted completely.

I'm a Christian, but the ideas that God's forgiveness leaves no baggage is amazing. Personally, I know how hard it is everyday to not hold a grudge or dwell on the past. With our relationship with Christ, we never have to worry about our pasts. We never have to dwell on our mistakes. We never have to live as who we once were. He says to us in Hebrews 10:17, "Their sins and their lawless deeds, I will remember no more." We are not defined by our pasts in God's eyes. We are known and appreciated by who we are in the moment and who we are working to become.

I'm a Christian, but it's so hard to fathom why I, a sinner over and over, is fought for so passionately. My absolute favorite verse is in Exodus 14. Verse 14 states, "The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent." Did you read this correctly? God is constantly fighting for us in every way. He is our security guard. To those who love Him, he is never failing. And ALL we have to do is be silent. God does not ask for us to beg harder, try harder - nothing. He asks for our quietness, silence, and trust. While we are weak, He is so strong.

I'm a Christian, AND I'm absolutely amazed by who God is. We don't deserve everything we are blessed with as followers of Jesus Christ. If we fully understood every detail about God, our faith would not be a necessity. Our earthly bodies can not comprehend a love so perfect, because it does not exist on earth. This love comes from Our Father in Heaven. We are not our own, but a creation of the One who never fails, never gives up, never runs out.

"Do not fear, for I am with you;
Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, surely I will help you,
Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."

Isaiah 41:10

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
