Often times I find myself forgetting how blessed I am. As time keeps passing by, I'm starting to realize that this is it. This is my life. I am here on this earth for some reason or another, and then I often ask the question: What am I actually doing? Why am I letting others put me down so much? Why am I not choosing happiness every chance I can?
I can never fully answer those questions. I can think of the reasons why I feel down or why I am not happy but I can never answer why I let others dictate the way I feel. I have found that there is a reason for that.
It's because there is no answwe.
No one in the world has the power to make me feel one way or another except myself. And that goes for everyone. No one can change your mood or attitude without your consent. Co-workers, so-called "friends," professors, sometimes even parents go out of their way to hurt others but their words can't touch you if you truly don't want them to.
I love the saying "life is unfair because it is unfair to everyone" since it is beyond true. Everyone goes through hard times, or has to deal with difficult people but instead of using the sadness or allow the hatred to seep beneath your skin, use the lessons and grow. Smile much and laugh often. Try your best to surround yourself with people who love you for you and brush off the negativity.
Life is not always easy and you're not always going to feel excited about everything. I'm not saying that it's always going to be rainbows and unicorns or puppies and flowers. I'm saying that life is worth living but most importantly it's worth living by being happy. Find your story, embrace who you are, and don't let others control your life or your happiness. Take charge and I promise that everything will fall into place. This is your life. Remember to count your blessings.
