Friendship. It is arguably one of the things I value most in my life. We have been given the chance to make a family for ourselves. We choose who we want to be with, and be like. Some people will be your friend for a short period of time, some will be your friend for eternity.
I have been blessed with some of the best people in my life. I have numerous friends that I feel confident saying that they will always be my friend. They are the people that let me rant about anything and everything. The people who inspire me in more ways than one. The people that make me laugh even when I'm upset. But most importantly, my friends are the people that have my back. They don't hesitate to give me their honest opinions. I am lucky enough to have friends that love me unconditionally. From singing on bus rides, to dressing up in banana costumes in the middle of target, to crying sessions at McDonalds. Each time we hang out, no matter how often, is always made memorable.
People will come and go, it is part of life. However, I have made it a personal goal to cherish every friend while they are in my life. Why dread the goodbye when you've just said hello?
The Golden Rule should be applied to all friendships. Never let a day go by where your friends don't feel confident in your friendship. Always tell your friends how valuable they are to you, whether you see them every day, or every year. Do not let an "I love you," be implied. Say it. Show it. Your friends will be there for you when you feel as if no one is.
Cherish your friends. Hug them in the middle of a conversation. Ask them to hangout more. Write them a letter. Most importantly, love them with all of your heart. No matter how long they are in your life, they have been placed in your life to teach you a lesson. Everyone is in your life for a reason. Let friendships better you and guide you through life.
