Handling Chaos
Start writing a post

My updates for this post are quite lame, unfortunately. The truth is, I've been so busy these past two weeks that I haven't really had time to sit down and think of something interesting to write. I was out of state for the week recently, and I had no access to a laptop to write something good. Furthermore, I had no creative energy and a total case of writer's block. There could be numerous reasons for this sudden fall of motivation, but I can think of one reason that probably beats them all: I'm too stressed to enjoy the things I like.

Certainly we've all felt like this at one point. You get a little stressed, you tell yourself "I'll do it later". But then "later" turns in to "next week" which turns in to two weeks, and so on. I have felt this stress of procrastination all month. I constantly use the excuse of "I'll do it when I get home", but then I don't get home for another week. The cycle continues for the entire month of June. This month, I have left the state three times, attended a wedding, AND had a whole list of scholarships to apply to. When I tell you I'm stressed, I mean it.

When I get like this, I need to take extra time to step back. It's so easy to forget the things we enjoy when we're constantly swarmed with new responsibilities. I still have thank you notes to write from my graduation party! There's laundry piled sky high in my room, AND I still need to go dorm shopping! But all this aside, I need to take time for myself. To enjoy the things that make me happy. That's why I've dedicated today to getting caught up on things that will make me feel better, and to stop the procrastination. That means writing my article, cleaning my room, and doing things that will make me feel better, such as working out or a good movie sesh. Something fun to ease my mind.

I know this was more of a mellow post, but let it be a reminder for everyone take time some time for yourself. We all get stressed and forget the importance of self care. Take a breath, mark off that to-do list, and do something for yourself (I recommend a good Netflix binge). That's all for this week, go take care of yourselves y'all!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
