In today's world, giving people chance after chance to fix their mistakes is seen as a sign of weakness. Just because you have a forgiving heart doesn’t make you the weaker person, it shows that you’re mature enough and open to letting go of the past and move forward.
Forgiveness is a trait that can be viewed as a strength or weakness, depending on the situation. I believe that having a forgiving heart is better than holding grudges against people’s previous actions. There comes a point in time that you realize after giving out so many chances to certain relationships they might just be doomed to fail every time. But I myself, am willing to give out these chances because I would want someone else to do the same for me.
It seems like for me the only way to learn is to learn through my mistakes. These mistakes turn in to valuable lessons that I will help me in the future. If someone shows you a reason as to why you should give them another chance, then what’s the harm in giving them one? Forgiving someone isn’t a free card to let do the same thing again and again; that’s why you should make that known beforehand.
Second, third, and fourth chances aren’t a bad thing, they only are if the same actions are being performed despite the chance you’ve given them to fix it. Give your chances out to those who deserve it or show you a reason to. Be selfish with your time and the trust you put into others. Just remember if you were in their shoes how you would feel. Forgiveness is never a bad trait, it only makes you the stronger, more mature person.
