It is surprising to think that during this time of fashion, we continue to use styles from years ago. However, what you are about to read includes fashions from the past century that we continue to use today. You may be surprised!
1900: Ruffles
Ruffles have gone in and out of style for years, but the height for ruffled clothing is now. Wedding dresses especially seem to include an abundance of this material.
1910: Long, White and Detailed Dresses
The formal side of the 1910's included long, flowing white dresses. Wedding dresses often duplicate this style of dress, making for a classic-style wedding.
1920: Great Gatsby
The end of the war brought a new sense of freedom to women throughout America. Their newfound responsibilities resulting from the job opportunities they were able to have during the war changed their mindsets.
1930: The "Business" Look
The business casual look from the 1930's was brought to America when women began to work in offices. The business look from this time was almost identical to the skirt-suits from the current day.
1940: High Waisted Bathing Suits
High waisted bathing suits have made a huge comeback during the past 5 years. They were originally worn for modesty for women, but now they're considered the height of vacation fashion.
1950: Mid Length Patterned Skirts
A-line mid length skirts would have been considered strange in the early 2000's when short jean skirts were the pinnacle of fashion. However, with a curve-hugging shirt, a-line skirts are perfect for a night out.
1960: Hippies
The hippie movement occurred in the 1960's, and the famous Woodstock music festival occurred in 1969. Hippie style seems to have made a huge comeback. Bandanas, tapestries, alternative music, and patterned pants have rose in popularity in the past few years.
1970: Bell Bottom Jeans
Bell bottom jeans were originally popular in the 1970's, and they dropped in style until recently, when popular stores began to advertise them. The trend caught on, and they're slowly overcoming the popularity of the ever-so-popular skinny jean.
1980: Half Shirts
Half shirts are the go-to shirt for carnivals, festivals, and concerts. The half-shirt originally made an appearance in the 80's. They're an easy and stylish way to stay cool in the warmth of summer.
1990: Plaid and Chokers
Plaid flannels seem to be making a comeback since their prime in the 90's. Chokers have also made a significant comeback in the past two years, making for a throwback 90's grunge look.
2000: Jean skirts
Jean skirts are either very in, or very out of style. It just so happens that right now, we have pulled them right out of the early 2000s and brought them into the current day.
