They say that cancer is the killer within. We're only 16 days into 2016, and we've already lost countless lives, including these four celebrities, to cancer. It's such a shame that we had to say goodbye so soon, but their legacy will forever remain in the hearts of many.
1. David Bowie
On Jan. 10, 2016, the world said goodbye to famous rock star and actor, David Bowie. At the young age of 69, Bowie passed away in his home after battling liver cancer for 18 months. However, fans are forever grateful for his parting album, "Blackstar," which will help them through this difficult time. Although the loss of this legend is tremendous, his incredible work will live on for centuries to come.
2. Brian Bedford
Brian Bedford, a seven-time Tony-winning English actor and director both on stage and in film, lost his two-year cancer battle on Jan. 13 at the age of 80. Although he is particularly known for being the voice of Robin Hood, Bedford has also played numerous roles in "Tartuffe," "The School for Wives," "The Tempest," "Grand Prix," and many more. His fans, family and friends took to social media to send positivity and love to each other after his passing. Although this was the end of his journey, Brian Bedford will forever remain an inspiration to theatre and film lovers alike.
3. Rene Angelil
After Rene Angelil, age 73, lost his battle to throat cancer on Jan.14, social media blew up, mourning the industry's loss of an extremely talented manager and musician. Husband and manager to Celine Dion, fans and family sent her loving, supportive and positive messages. Despite his passing, Angelil left behind five remarkable children who will carry out his legacy. Although he may have passed on, he will never be forgotten.
4. Alan Rickman
Fans, friends and many more have been grieving over the loss of Alan Rickman on social media since his passing on Jan. 14 at age 69. As an English director and actor, Rickman has played several roles on screen as well as on-stage. Although he is best known for playing Professor Snape in "Harry Potter," he has also been in several other productions, including: "Snow Cake," "Nobel Son," "Love Actually," "The Search for John Gissing," "Blow Dry," and much more. The passing of this incredible artist is a severe loss to the industry. However, he will "always" be remembered for his contributions to the world.
