2016 is not over yet, and we already have many great movies to talk about, and there are still many more to come. "Captain America: Civil War" was among the great films that has come out in where a pair of superheroes just can’t get along. Unlike "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice," "Captain America: Civil War" has a group of superhero’s fighting against another group for what they believe to be a right reason.
In "Captain America: Civil War," the Avengers are now being held accountable for all the damage they have done in their past fights. The governments around the world are getting tired of this team coming into their countries and causing the deaths of hundreds and thousands of their citizens. Because of this, the Secretary of State William Ross played by William Hurt, proposes the Slovakia Accords where it declares that the Avengers now work for the United Nations, and can only get involved in a situation if the United Nations allows it. While Tony Stark wants the Avengers to sign the accords, Steve Rogers also known as Captain America does not think they should sign it. While some agree with Stark, others also agree with Rogers which causes an imbalance in the group.
The cast of "Captain America: Civil War" was incredible. Words can merely describe how great each cast member did at portraying the role of everyone’s favorite superheroes. Though it was missing Hulk and Thor, you barely even noticed it with the new characters introduced. Black Panther and Spider-Man were the newbies who really made the movie in my opinion. Others like Robert Downey Jr., who continues to portray his role as sly and confident Tony Stark only this time adding more darkness into his role, and Chris Evans who portrayed a stronger Captain America, one who would do anything for his friends still continue to amaze the audience with their seemingly obvious resemblance to the comic book heroes.
Black Panther, played by Chadwick Boseman was first introduced in this movie and made such a strong and powerful comic book character come to life. The suit made Panther look so much more badass than any comic ever did, and Boseman’s acting shows T’Challa as such a dynamic character who feels pain and anger that the audience can feel as they watch his anger through the big screen.
I can honestly say I had my doubts when they announced that they were doing another Spider-Man reboot. However, the new Spidey, played by Tom Holland, really stole the show when he appeared. The audience could not stop laughing, and I even heard many cheers when everyone saw him in his costume. Watching him play Spider-Man was like watching this comic face to face. Holland remained true to the character and acted like a hilariously confused teenage boy with a loud mouth.
The screenwriters of the movie, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, did a great job of using so many back stories and adding it all into one giant story. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo, made some visually spectacular action scenes where it doesn’t get puzzling. It was not confusing nor was it tedious, instead it was a continuous movie with incredible fight scenes and powerful dialogue.
I can say that the movie is an 8/10. An incredibly directed and well-acted movie, where the Marvel Universe adds another legendary film to their list. For this to be the 13th installment from the company, they made Civil War an exciting yet deep film with so much more than just superheroes fighting. It was deep, amusing, and insightful.
